The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
... Carl Sandburg
Just to give you some idea of the depth of the fog, those buildings are over 35, 40 and 50 stories high. The fog is eerie and beautiful, and stretches out over the Pacific Ocean.
I thought this lovely photograph would cool everyone down a bit after my last post about Barrack Obama. Goodness! I wish everyone the best of luck tomorrow!

nice picture :)
I would hate to drive in that fog.
Wow! That's really surprising, actually.
That is beautiful! I have never seen anything like it in my life! You are lucky to live in such beautiful place!
All I can say is "WOW!!!" I have missed you. I have been away but I am back now & being a bit more artistic once again.
I am not sure why it just showed up as Becky. The link is:

Wow! That is a neat picture. I like the poem also.
Oh, I love this time of year. There's nothing like the fog rolling in to inspire a sense of mystery! :D
Beautiful....
I never gave it a thought about how I live at sea level until today we drove to Surrey and discovered the SUN!
By the way, stitches (staples...all 28 of them) are out but my head is still in the fog.
Yesterday was hectic wasn't it. Some days I wonder where all these commenters crawl out from just to comment on a post because of the political nature of it. Maybe you should have posted a rain photo to wash it all away. LOL.
I can't imagine fog like that in real life. I always think of horror movies and novels when I see fog.
Hi! I really enjoyed reading your blog, and that was a really beautiful picture of the fog. Breathtaking.
I read through your posts and enjoyed your insight. Perhaps you could visit my blog, it's all about people trying to understand the nature of love by sharing their experiences. Stop by sometime. Thanks!

That is a wonderful photo, Jo. But you know (as does Leslie) how much I enjoy Vancouver ....
Luck is driving through that fog and not smashing up the vehicle. As for the other, the die is cast, the luck portion is over; now we wait to see the payout.
Wow. that's incredible
What an amazing picture, such a beautiful sight to see when I am sat here in my kitchen of a morning in the UK, looking at the grey drizzly skies!lol. I will certianly be back to read your blog!
It looks as if those buildings are sitting in the clouds. Lovely picture!
Hi there!
I hope everything is fine with you...
The fog is beautiful and glamorous and provoke me to jump onto it and dance :)
Hugs from Istanbul

You rarely post about trivial things, Jo. Gun shy?
Wow, now that is some serious fog. It would be cool to be just above the level of it in a building.
That is thick fog. Like you see in a mystery movie.
Great shot.. just beautiful. I love fog.
Jo, that is an interesting picture. I like mist but fog makes me remember a scary drive once on the Ventura Freeway.
By the way, they say that the English women owe their dewy skin to the foggy weather; I would call that an upside indeed. :-)

Wow! Beautiful picture!
After reading all 83 comments on the Obama post, I decided not to add to it.
My favorite one was:

What do we see in Obama? It's simple - LEADERSHIP - a quality that has been sorely missing in the US in the past several years.
Better yet, my comment would now reference your picture; just as those few buildings stand 'stories high' above the many below, so does Barack Obama.
Just as other administrations have shrouded their tactics as the fog shrouds and covers so you can't see the truth, Obama 'blows away the fog' in a few short months.
Now that the fog is gone; the mess in our country is evident, likewise Obama and his team will join the rest of us Americans, as we try to keep it 'fog-free and smog-free' in the years to come.
As to Hotel California, I think you actually have to had lived here; stayed there, and understood the individual artists who ultimtely made up THE EAGLES.
They represent a myriad of conditions that were (and still are) part of our fabric in this nation; they only reach out in a variety of songs, and while I don't have many of their works that I truly like, BEFORE THEY BECAME THE EAGLES, each and every INDIVIDUAL ARTIST was part of another group (or groups), and in those beginning groups, they sang of truth; somehow they seemed to lose their individual power when they formed THE EAGLES - just like a government can 'lose its effectiveness' by incorporating viewpoints that simply don't carry the theme and purpose of a nation with a goal, THE EAGLES lost their momentum.
I haven't had felt as 'safe' and optimistic since JFK was elected; that's waiting a very long time to have this energy and delight with the leadership of our USA.
Regards, Diane
That was really nice!! especially some of the architectures or buildings scene above the sky.. ;)
Your pictures that you have on here are amazing!
We have been having fog here in Seattle too...back east I don't remember there being frozen fog..but here it is sometimes and it is the strangest stuff.
Nice to meet you!I sending from Japan.so beautiful picture...
Canada is very far but,I want to get to Canada one day.and,I watched the moment of the Mr.Obama new prime minister on TV,too.
I was so impressed.however,I think that we must do our best with all of us for the achievement of the world peace.I could get courage from him
Nice --and unusual -- picture. I visited Vancouver in summer 1976, started a tour of BC from there, a memorable holiday indeed. Vancouver is one of my three favourite port cities; Cape Town and Sydney are the others. They each have their own special ambience. Ciao.
The quote you had about the fog by Carl Sandberg reminds me of Prufrock... what an amazing poem. You have good taste in quotes :)
Picture,Good!...
Ohhhh, how beautiful it is!!!
I want to really see it :)
