"Hi honey, This is Daddy. Is Mommy near the phone?"
"No Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Paul."
After a brief pause, Daddy says, "But honey, you haven't got an Uncle Paul."
"Oh yes I do,and he's upstairs in the bedroom with Mommy, right now."
...Brief Pause.
"Uh, okay then, this is what I want you to do. Put the phone down on the table, run upstairs and knock on the bedroom door and shout to Mommy that Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway.”
"Okay Daddy, just a minute."
A few minutes later the little girl comes back to the phone. "I did it Daddy."
"And what happened honey?" he asked.
"Well, Mommy got all scared, jumped out of bed with no clothes on and ran around screaming. Then she tripped over the rug, hit her head on the dresser and now she isn't moving at all!"
"Oh my God!!! What about your Uncle Paul?"
"He jumped out of the bed with no clothes on, too. He was all scared and he jumped out of the back window and into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn't know that you took out the water last week to clean it. He hit the bottom of the pool and I think he's dead."
...Long Pause.
"Swimming pool?”
“Is this 486-5731?"
Heh. Poetic Justice.

ReplyDeleteGreat!!! LOL, exactly what I needed on Friday 13th. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat made my day, so different from your usual type of posts. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe free hilarity offered by my blog-buddies. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd so when the actual husband comes home he will sort of wonder what happened....! (I think of things like that more than the guy who jumped into the empty pool...)
ReplyDeleteI am thinking the woman will be okay but may have a bit of explaining to do - especially if the guy jumped to his death out her bedroom window. Though legally I do not see any criminal consequences to her as the man's act was, well, sort of voluntary when he jumped.
Assuming the man who jumped into the empty pool (which he should have noticed was empty) was married - and he most certainly was - his wife will not have any cause of action against the woman as such cases were long ago done away with...
Whether or not the man's family who jumped to his death will be able to collect life insurance benefits will be a bit debatable - but I would argue it was not suicide but rather an accidental death.
And I am looking at this little light story waaaaay too seriously if I am thinking of such things!!! heh!!!
Russell- I like your little forensic analysis! A different view from the reality of it.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love it!
ReplyDeleteOoops! I also forgot to tell you that I LOVE the picture you have accompanying this post. That's my favorite part of blogging, putting up the images or YouTubes to go along with the post. You do a stellar job each time!
