What's your secret? How do you do it? I can hardly keep up with you -- any of you. I barely have time to keep up with my own boring-little-blog. When I come home from work at the end of the day, almost the last thing I want to do is to sit down in front of a computer again, and yet it seems to be where all the action is these days. Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, you guys are everywhere...! How on earth do you do it? And you all manage to create such wonderful blog posts, and as soon as you have published, et voila! you have 50 comments. It's incredible...! I wish I had the time to visit all your fabulous blogs, but I have been venturing further and further away from my computer lately. For Christmas I was given eight absolutely fabulous books from my family and friends, plus a year's subscription to the New Yorker Magazine from my lovely friend Russell. I get lost in my books, and often wake up at 4:00 in the morning with my light still on, and my book lying next to me.Computer? What's a computer...?
So I do apologize for my absence, and I will be back to visit you soon, and hopefully my books and New Yorker will give me more topics for blog posts, because goodness knows, my life is not as interesting as yours...!
In the meantime, while everyone in North American is freezing

Ha ha! Well, for myself, I don't have access to the computer all day at work. I teach PreK, so when I get home, I enjoy the quiet interactions with adult cyber friends and catching up on favorite blogs. I go back to work on Monday, so life will quiet down quite a bit for me!
ReplyDeleteAs long as I can keep the fingers thawed, I can type! I would rather sew... but my little sewing room is not heated and I can only stand it for short intervals! Even with a space heater, it just won't warm up!
ReplyDeleteIts true, personal life does suffer when you are glued to this tube all the time. I found it most difficult during the holidays as there were so many great recipes, crafts and home tours of gorgeous holiday decorations to see. Now I try to limit myself to morning and before bed, but its very addictive (sp?)for me. Like you, I love reading and have a couple books on order, so hopefully that will help. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, I agree, I don't try to keep up with everyone. Between my family life & my work in the studio (those being top priorities) my schedule is quite full. I have to limit time on online or I'd never get anything done :)

Oh Jo, I know exactly what you mean. I also do not have time to blog every day and it often happens that I have nothing to say, but the thing that really keeps me busy, is reading everybody else's blogs... and they are so good, I don't want to miss out on one of them, especially not the one called A Majority of Two!

I've been wondering the same thing about you, Lady. You manage to post something nearly every day while I have fallen by the wayside and hardly ever do so. I still want to write and communicate with all my blog friends, but it just doesn't happen as often as it used to.

ReplyDeleteWhat rich lives we all lead! So much to see and do, to read and write. I only publish about once a week, and marvel at those who post more. I love to read books too, and try to get in an hour a day, mostly at bed-time. I think we need to prioritize what's important to each of us, write it down, place it in a prominent place, and check on it often! If we want to spend time with family and friends, but find we are spending more screen time, we need to re-evaluate. I LOVE my screen time, but must be vigilant to ensure it doesn't take over!

Blogging is all I can do...and of course I am pretty anonymous so no one can find me. I facebooked for two weeks...and I actually felt it a waste of time for some people but when its all you got its all you got.

ReplyDeleteYou are right, blogging etc takes up vast amounts of time. It's easy to get sucked into Facebook and the others, but technology can make it easier to keep track. It's a question of finding what works for you. Maybe you prefer to keep away from the computer but could use an iPhone or BlackBerry ?
I think once you have started blogging etc, there is no going back !! But then I would say that... it's a great tool for my work.
I can't speak for others, but PP definately needs more blonde input. :-)

ReplyDeleteJo, I wonder the same thing every day as I check my bloglist which is not half as long as most. Sometimes I imagine some people do nothing else. I find it great entertainment and a way to learn - you are one of the most prolific writers and, as far as I'm concerned, the best content blogger out there!
ReplyDeleteOne great thing about this activity is that there really is no external pressure to produce. I'm retired and I've learned to divide my time so that I'm not obsessively doing any one thing.
I say read with no guilt - enjoy life, but please keep blogging, even if it's not as frequent!
I do sometimes neglect my day job to write blog posts, I admit it. It's okay, I'm self employed. So, the only person I cheat is myself. Since, many days my day job involves calling people and desperately begging them to let me come visit them and sell them books, I need a break now and then. Still, I do not condone excessive internet use. It probably causes some horrible disease that they will find out about 30 years from now.

I'm am blessed (?) that I have a boring job so I am able to read a lot of blogs during the day at work. But I confess that I spend most evenings on the computer as well. And I read books & magazines. How do I find the time? I don't clean my house LOL!

Dear Jo, it makes one glad that there are still people spending time with a book.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to 'updates and its content', I usually keep a notepad close by, and whenever a thought pops up I write it down, looking at it later, to see what can be made of it.
A big help is also to do it while everyone is asleep - taking care of my young son during the night, provides many thoughts and keeps me awake.

ReplyDeleteI didn't make it to work today, neither of the trucks (diesel) would start. When hubby finally got off the phone with work, he got the van started, and I sat in that 'fair weather' vehicle for 30 minutes keeping the rpms at 2000 so that it would recharge the battery in my truck. At -2 degrees F. And I have 7 books to read by next wednesday, and 3 more to pick up at the library. Guess I really don't have much time to blog, but I sure do enjoy reading yours!

ReplyDeleteJo, I've often wondered how you do it! You post often and in my opinion your topics are always interesting and thought provoking. There's nothing boring about your blog! My blog is at a standstill right now. Just can't get motivated to post. So I do spend a lot of time on Facebook. I don't do any of the silly stuff on FB...I approach it like a mini-blog. I'm amazed at how many people from my past I've found through FB. And I started an alumni group for a company I used to work for. I'm having lots of fun re-connecting with former co-workers/friends on FB.
