What Are You Wearing?

Tonight when I came home from work, I walked around to all my windows closing the blinds, and I happened to glance across the courtyard at the man in the next building. His blinds were wide open, he was sitting at his computer, and he was nekkid. I have seen him sitting at his computer many times before, but I have never seen him without his clothes on. It was a frightening experience, to say the least. I felt a bit like James Stewart in "Rear Window". I wonder if people have any idea that we can see right in to the very privacy of their lives, when their blinds are open and their lights are on. It's one intrusion I don't wish to make. Most people actually do look better with their clothes on, truth be told.

It occurred to me then, that most of us sit in front of our computers, reading blogs, e-mailing our friends, reading CNN and other websites, perhaps working on a project for work, and we are definitely wearing something that is -- shall we say -- comfortable. We can have close communication with dozens of people, and no one can see us. Thank goodness. So I am curious, as you sit there now reading my boring-little blog, what are you wearing? Enquiring minds what to know. Are you comfortable? Are you nekkid? Oh, that sounds sort of kinky, doesn't it? But really, what are you wearing? Do you remember the "come-as-you-are" parties, where people would telephone you with an invitation late at night, or early in the morning, and you had to attend the party just exactly as you were when you received the invitation? If anyone were to phone me right now and invite me to a "come-as-you-are" party, they would be in for a h*ll of a shock.

"What are those things you have on your feet? And what have you done to your hair? And what is that you're wearing?"

What are you wearing? Enquiring minds want to know.

Cheers,

  4. What am I wearing? Well, not nothing. That I have to say. It summer over here, so I wear anything cool. Shirts, tshirt, swimming trunks, whatever.

  5. Thermal underwear, tops and bottoms (white), 2 pair of socks one gray and one black but coordinated properly, one of each color on each foot, a pair of Walgreen slippers, a T shirt, and a navy blue hoody.

We never turn our furnace up above 60 degrees(f). In the winter you can always put more clothes on.

Now if this were summer you would get a completely different answer because the A/C doesn't come on until at least 90(f).

  6. Moccasin-type, rabbit fur slippers with reddish coloured suede. Shorts that are too big around the waste. A black, varigated tank top. A pink polar fleece cardigan. My hair is tied in a ponytail with a dark mauve schrunchie. It (my hair) is starting to hurt from being pulled back and tied.

  7. I'm in jeans, barefoot, t-shirt and old navy flannel zip-up thingy with cat hair all over it on it. Butler is casual this morning, wearing only a three-piece gray suit instead of his usual tuxedo. As soon as he read your question, Bagman tried to get naked but he was in full motorcycle leathers which he is having a hard time peeling off.

  8. The comments are so funny! I am wearing blue plaid flannel p.j. pants and a nice black, long-sleeved T shirt. Barefoot. Actually all pretty boring, but quite comfy~

  10. Well, I got up this morning, had breakfast, shaved, showered, put on grey dress slacks with a blue shirt with white pinstripes, a polar type sweater because it's chilly here, and as I don't put my shoes on until I go out, I've got my nice big sheep fleece leather slippers on, because they are warm and comfy... oh, and a pair of glasses on my face to help my aging eyes ! And a gold wedding band on my left ring finger...

    Pretty boring, eh ?

  11. I am only wearing my glasses. ;) Not true - I am also wearing my old, comfy cotton, hoodie-type housecoat......and trying to persuade myself away from the computer to don old clothes and go in the studio to paint. What a fashion plate!

  12. I'm at work so I'm definitely clothed LOL! I'm wearing black dress pants with a black mock turtleneck & a tealish sort of cardigan sweater thingie (it has short sleeves & ties in the front). Wool socks & black boots. Black watch, earrings that match the sweater, wedding bands. Hmmm - I could do with a little more color!

  13. I'm in a grey pair of my husband's sweatpants with a hole in the knee...and no, he isn't in them too. He is on the road so I have all his clothes to steal from! I also have on a green sweatshirt with baby spit up on it. Wow! I sure sound like a winner!

  14. I tend to sit down at the computer and do my blog reading after my shower, but before I start my "work" day. So, I am fully clothed. Of course, instead of wearing the blazer that I'm wearing later when I do venture out of the house, I have a grubby old sweatshirt over me to avoid getting pet hair all over the blazer, and my hair is all scraggly and damp, but since there is window right here I try to be pretty presentable.

  16. I am wearing a t-shirt, a sweater, long pants and I am still cold. =o}

  17. I'm sitting in bed drinking tea with my laptop, nightie and robe and warm socks under the covers. Definitely not nekkid, I only do that for showers and promptly get clothes on again.

  18. Thank goodness people arent able to see what I look like as I talk with them on the computer... Black sweats, my favorite very worn very abused sweatshirt from my husbands football days... my blue "granny" robe over it all & my very sexy slipper socks... No makeup & my hair in some sort of knot ball on my head.. Again very sexy!

  19. Ha! If I had read this last night I would have been caught in my PJs! As it is I'm at work right now so I am a bit dressed up, but my office door is closed so I'm barefoot at the moment.

  20. t-shirt and pajama pants. My usual housewear.

    ReplyDelete
  21. My nightshirt. I'm a lazy bum and have not gotten dressed. My computer room's on the second floor and I have the shades almost all the way down almost all the time. I rarely have the light on while I work and I am NEVER nekkid walkin' around the house because I MIGHT see MYSELF!!! I'm acutely aware of the fishbowl effect and have no desire to frighten my neighbors... throttle them, sure, but not frighten.

  22. Purple & green jammies with my old white terry-cloth robe. Only my feet are nekkid.

  23. What am I wearing? No pants.

  24. What a funny post! It makes me think of the TV show Friends where they are always looking across the way at 'Ugly Naked Guy.'

I am wearing black maternity yoga pants and a purple maternity shirt (they no longer quite meet) and a really old cheap pair of flip flops. Unless I am actually leaving the house this has become my usual attire!

  25. I am very comfortable and cool (not "with it" cool) in a pantie and wrapped in a multi-coloured sarong. The temperature over here climbed to 38 degrees celsius and it has not cooled off much. This is what I live in in the evenings if I do not have to go out and I make no excuses for it (lol)... but have you ever seen the 100meter sprint record being broken, just come and knock on my door!

  26. Hah! I am wearing a hand-me-down
t-shirt like dress from the 70's. It is ancient and I love it. The shoulder has a huge hole where the sleeve is coming off the dress.I have decided not to repair the poor thing, I am going to wear it till it literally falls apart. It is really hideous...I am sure my hubby hates it. :-)

  29. Lets see, I have on longjohns, velour sweat pants and an old sweater that is one of my favorites, two pairs of socks on my feet that are covered with a warm wool blanket and the entire ensemble is covered with dog hair!

  30. Since you wrote the title as, 'WHAT AT YOU WEARING'?, I'm guessing that one thing you were NOT wearing when you wrote this header, is your glasses.....smile!

I'm wearing an egyptian caftan; since I have quite a collection of these, and never wear 'street clothes' at home, that's what anyone finds me in during the day (and at the computer).

I'm also barefoot, since I hate shoes.....

Wearing silver earrings and silver necklace as well.

It was fun reading all the other comments as well. Diane

  31. Glad I arrived here after 30 comments. Laughing myself silly. the walking man had me going first I think. Hahaha...too funny. Rear window is such a classic film....love it! I don't go out in the evening all that often but when I do I love to view the homes where they have their lights on and the curtains open, only to see the decor of the home. Honestly. I rarely see people. Once many years ago, my husband would drive home around 10 in the evening and one home always had the bedroom curtains wide open with a man in his underwear in bed. How odd! I would have been shocked to see your neighbor naked. I may have been tempted to open the window and yell something at him. Ha. Funny post! Oh...yes...I am in my nighty.

  32. This is pretty funny! Since I'm at work I'm pretty decent. But...my shoes are off. I'm very much like my mom in that regard.

I'm wearing a gray, red, and black cashmere sweater and black slacks. Pretty boring.

  35. Brown, fleecy, hooded sweatshirt; sweat pants; thick, warm socks; crocs. Can't sit nekkid anywhere here in the winter, not because of peeping neighbors but because it's so blessed COLD!

    ReplyDelete
  36. HAHA! lol you crack me up. When I use to live in a high rise I saw a few naked people. Yes I'm bad the binoculars even came out, but hey...if you're window is open and you have no blinds you're asking for the attention.

  37. The same clothing with which I started the day; corduroy pants and turtleneck and a pale blue zip-front sweater, with brown socks and Clark's clogs. But much of the time, I am in a nightgown and bathrobe when I am on the computer. I am not in the habit of going nude at home because I'd scare myself every time I passed a mirror!

    ReplyDelete
  38. *LOL* I guess it was a shock to you, seeing him all starkers!

    I am wearing only an old t-shirt & a self-made skirt... XD

  39. Looks like I am about #40 or #189 or so.... but here goes!

I always wear a very heavy shirt -- it is actually called a shirt jacket -- around the house. A wear an old sweatshirt under that.

I live in Iowa and in the winter it is pretty cold.

Oh, Bailey says to tell you he is wearing his brown and white fur coat!

  40. I have on jeans, smocky top, tenny runners...
@ home we sometimes sit @ the computer with a towel on or just underwear, this is dangerous however as there are big windows in there and the shades usually aren't drawn, we live in the country......

  41. No one would never know out here in the boonies if I were nekkid but I have on leggins with a tee topped with a sweatshirt and cute little socks. Here in the Ozarks underwear is optional...Heeehehe!

Hope ya'll get over your fright and have a terrifically blessed day!!!

  42. I can think of about 20 lines, but none of them really...well I am wearing jeans, a blue shirt and a tan jacket like thing. And a smile.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have on a zipper sweater, turtleneck, jeans, socks and sneakers. I don't get undressed until time for bed and I dress right after my morning shower. I had a neighbor once who would stand in front of his storm door at night with the light on inside wearing socks and a short undershirt. Do I need to tell you that he was no centerfold?
When he ventured outside one night to greet my daughter as she came home from work, we called the police and they had to chase his sorry *** all around the yard. Frightening and hilarious at the same time!

  44. Seriously, ladies,

Some of this is starting to turn me on.
Maybe I should ask the same question on my blog.
Join the rest of the sweaty, overweight middle aged dweebs in their sleeveless undershirts who usually ask questions like that.

  45. Love the old photo and the cartoon.

I'm not sure that guy isn't titillated by the fact that someone can see him nekkid. Ewwwww. How can you not know that with the windows uncovered and the lights on, you are visible, warts and all? Ewww again.

Since you asked, I'm wearing jeans, t-shirt, socks and a cardigan sweater.

  46. I was tempted to give you the famous Marilyn Monroe response to the question, "What do you wear to bed?"

    "Chanel No. 5."

  47. Hahaha, what a great post Jo. Ok, once I get home I ditch the work clothes. So I have on Socks and my warm pink slippers, rust colored sweatpants, a green long t shirt pj top that has Garfield on it in jammies with a coffee mug saying "Just give me the coffee and no one gets hurt". Then my warm forest green robe and.......... no bra!!!! Yippee!!!!!

  48. You can't see me prancing around naked in my apartment unless you use a telescope or are capable of flight. And the prancing usually only happens at select times.

I'm usually online just before or just after my morning exercise so I'm either in a towel or whatever I'll wear to swim/bike/run. Today you're in luck. It's a big soft towel with some kind of tartan pattern.

"On the internet nobody knows you're a dog." That explains a lot.

  49. Omigosh, you guys crack me up. Your descriptions of what you were wearing is wonnnnnderful....!!!! *heh, heh* What a motley crew you are...! Everything from sarongs to long johns, to cozy sweaters to pajamas, coordinated socks (and even a fur coat *heh*). And I love how the ladies get rid of that bra. That's the first thing I do too.

I don't feel so bad now after reading some of your get-ups. Thank you for giving me such a chuckle...!

    Cheers,
    Jo
