Do you ever feel as if everyone else in the entire world is normal, and perhaps you are not? Let me rephrase that. Do you ever feel as if you have done or said something completely stupid, something that perhaps no one else on earth would do or say, and you feel utterly wretched? Or do you
try to convince tell yourself that you really are fallible, and we all do and say completely idiotic things at times?
Does
"being human" ever happen to you? Some of us
(me) are perhaps a little more
stupid human than others.
*sigh*

I realized a long time ago that there is noone else like me and that I say and think things others don't. I embrace my individuality because it would be really boring if we were all the same. Life's too short and precious to worry about bells that can't be unrung.
Yes, more than once. And it made me sit where I am right now. :/
I suppose my skewed sense of humor has caused more than one odd look. I don't mind.
Lucky for me, my children inherited the same humor and it looks like their children have too. At least my family understands me.
Hoo boy - all the time! I'm a stick my foot in my mouth kind of gal. Sometimes I care, sometimes not. The time I offended my dad's wife's sensibilities for no good reason? Bad. The time I put my SIL's back up about politics? Meh.
I don't remember this, but my father retold it over and over, thinking it was the most brilliant thing a child ever said.
I'd done something that I wasn't supposed to do. I can't even remember what. I was little, maybe five years old.
"What is this?" my father demanded?
"What is THIS?" he repeated from his impossibly tall 6'4" height.
"This," I told him from somewhere around kneecap level, "is a human error."
I think it may have been his favorite memory of my childhood.
JO? the minute i leave the water.. its all human error! LOLOL! Susans comment is delightful!
Lord, yes. Haven't we all?
No, Jo, you are all alone in this. It's just you, nobody else (NOT!). Surely you jest...
And Susan, that would have been a favorite of mine if either of my children would have been smart enough to say that!
To err is human...to forgive is divine. Nice flowers for whomever you offended.
Yes, yes and yes. Of course, sometimes I think I'm the only sane one and everyone else is completely bonkers.
I think it is one of the things we all have in common, when you get right down to it.
Heh. Again, maybe that explains the popularity of reality shows, "Whoa, I'm a paragon of sanity, with a fantastic sense of perspective, it turns out!"
Or, as I taught my son long, long ago, "Show me someone who says they've never made a mistake, and I will show you a liar. Everyone makes mistakes." And we all have "those" days too.
Have a nice piece of chocolate, a yummy drink, and settle in to watch the festivities.
I am so incredibly sorry about the loss of the Luge athlete from Georgia. I know it is an incredibly dangerous sport, but that poor, poor man. I hope he felt nothing, poor soul.
I'm also so sorry there was such a dreadful accident at the games, I know how much you, and all of Vancouver has been looking forward to this.
Remember, the best way to honor that young man is to celebrate the Olympics, after all, he would truly know how much all concerned have dreamed about this event.
Yes, mostly voicing that I don't have enough strength to do what is demanded of me, yet truth did proof me time and again otherwise - and it turned out, many times, to be the beginning of something nice.
A nice weekend for you.
Um, yeah. Something in my brain convinces me that I know the perfect helpful, pithy or funny thing to say until afterward, when I can't take it back. I lose a lot of sleep over this, but never learn.
I loved Susan's comment! Great story.
Just turn on the tv Jo if you want to see others being "human" LOL. I think their is a comfort at times and horror at times at the mistakes we make. Hopefully the ones I make are not too big and can be rectified or I can at least forgive myself for them. That is life. I always think of Jesus and why he walked the earth to remind us that we are only "human" and that is a beautiful THANG!!
Jo- I'm so happy for Canada in all it's beauty (people and scenery. You must be so proud!!
More so in the past....I seem somewhat comfortable now...(Hope that doesn't make me in-human! LOL
Aloha, Friend!
Comfort Spiral
To be human is to be real, and to be real is beautiful.
Yes, of course! I recognize it sooner as I get older and am quicker to forgive myself, though.
Jo, that is exactly how I came to be "A human kind of human". I do it all the time, no matter how much I intend to be wise, sofisticated, serene, etc.
All the time, Ms. Jo. LOL
Happy Weekend and enjoy all the olympic fever that is happening in your corner of the world.
Ciao.
We all have said things that we wish we could take back. Hope you enjoyed the ceremonies! It was amazing to be in the crowds on the strees. See the pictures on my blog!
GO CANADA GO!!!!
that my dear is one thing I stopped being ashamed of a long time ago...being human.
Jo, join the crowd! Guilt is only useful if it merely kicks you once; it makes a terrible companion. Likewise regret. Hug it and let it go :)
I am human a lot of the time (as you know from reading my blog!)

When any one tells me how perfect or wonderful their life is, I immediately become suspect.
When someone tells me over and over how much in love they are with their spouse, I wonder who they are trying to convince -- me or themselves?
When someone is too perfect, I wonder what they are hiding.
Sounds like you are ... just right!
Thank you for all your kind words, everyone. I am feeling a bit better today. I never mean to say things I shouldn't say ... *heh* ... but being human, I guess we all do it from time to time.
*sigh*
I certainly cannot claim immunity to foot-in-mouth disease.
Oh Yes!
There are many times when I wish I was a dog!
To err is human. To blog, online.
