I went downtown this afternoon to take part in the Olympic activities at Robson Square, and all I could see were the Magnolia trees blooming in front of the Art Gallery. Here we are in Canada, it's the Winter Olympics, it's February, it's winter -- you get the idea -- and the Magnolia trees are blooming. Is that crazy, or what? So, for all you folks still digging your way out of yet another snow storm, I snapped this picture today and I'm happy to share our Magnolias with you. Enjoy!
Cheers,
I saw some shots on TV today of Robson Square. It looks like a wonderful place to spend the day. Thanks for sharing! Crazy weather, huh?
ReplyDeleteHold on a sec!
ReplyDeleteI live in Germany, which normally is warmer than Canada, even warmer than warm Vancouer and its surroundings, why is my neighbour's Magnolia not that far??? o_Oa
What a beautiful picture! It looks downright balmy in Vancouver on the TV shots I've seen this weekend. I wish I could say the same thing for how it looks here!
ReplyDeleteLove Magnolias, ours are about to bloom as well. My Forsythia and Lilacs are budding out. It is indeed strange weather. The Japonica has bloomed and is fading already.
ReplyDeleteIt's global weather anomaly, that's what it is. The concept 'global warming' is misleading.
ReplyDeleteOurs usually bloom in February, but this year, the cold winter has retarded their growth.
ReplyDeleteSnowed all day here! Wish we hadn't sold our snow mobiles when we moved "south"!
ReplyDeleteOh...I am jealous. I love Magnolias. Ours won't bloom until May.
ReplyDeletehi jo! what a thrill to be part of the olympics!
ReplyDeletei enjoyed atlanta so much!
you have a lovely blog.
Lovely! Ours are coming into bloom, too, in San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was particularly appropriate that Hannah Kearney, who won the women's ski mogul gold medal, is half-American and half-Canadian.
Here in Bellingham, just an hour south of Vancouver but on the other side of the border, it is just amazing. Crocuses of course, pussy willows yes, but blossoms? Yikes! I'm watching the Olympics and enjoying them from my living room...
ReplyDeleteThe weather really messed up the biathelon.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on Canada's first gold on home soil!
The Magnolia are glorious, thankyou for sharing them with us - but an even more glorious thankyou from me for your presents which I not only received but have blogged about of course!! Go read - a post called Inukshuk :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, beautiful -isn't that early for this Magnolia?
ReplyDeleteAh... the first glimpse of spring! It is weird weather though for Winter Olympics.
