Cheers...!

I'm taking a short hiatus from blogging for a while. It seems my blog is becoming even more boring than usual *y-a-w-n* and I am getting fewer and fewer commenters each day. I love the folks who continue to comment, and I will continue to visit you. But my blog is sort of strange -- it has no category. I don't belong to the über-blogger, POTW crowd, and I don't have wonderful photographs to share with you, and I don't have wonderful recipes and decorating tips. So, I'm not sure I even have anything interesting to say. My observations on life are often not the same as everyone else's. In any case, I'm sure I'll be back soon -- maybe tomorrow -- but for now...

Cheers!

  1. Jo, it's simply not true that your blog is boring. Never! And of course I will hope that you will continue to post whenever the mood strikes you. I am also in the same non-category as you, and I'm hoping you will realize how much you mean to me. I'm glad I found you!

  2. Aw... DJan, thank you! You are one of the bloggers I love! You're not a Stepford Wife, *heh*. That is a compliment, by the way. :-)

  3. Blogssss! *does Zombie voice*

Oh Noooez! D: I like your Blog!!
Besides, is it really important to be put in a certain Category? -By not being pigeon-holed, you are at least unique with your Blog! ;)

  4. I will miss you, Jo. I read you almost every day as I like to keep tabs on the Westend. I love your movie reviews - I just took on the Taylor Classic channel and am into old movies lately which I really enjoy. I will miss updates on your grand kids and your comments on what is happening in the news and your growing up stories. Please come back as soon as you can. I will look forward to reading you again and seeing your artwork and painting.

  5. Breaks are good, I've found. Rest up.

  6. Jo, I don't think I have ever read one of your posts that I disagreed with! I mean you are soooo wrong on this one.
Your blog is my absolute favorite, well... you and Pioneer Woman. Please don't stay away too long, your blog is never boring and remember for every person who comments many more are reading. For instance my cousin reads your blog everyday but I don't think she has ever commented.

I like the fact that you don't write about decorating, cooking etc. I have plenty of other fav. blogs that cover those subjects, you write about random thoughts, you make me think! I love you and your blog.

  7. You're never boring! Just remember that lack of comment doesn't mean we're not thinking about what you've said. Your post yesterday about Artyom was wonderful...such a difficult situation and you can't help but feel for the child at the center of it all.

  8. Noooooooooooooooooo... please continue to blog. I love reading your posts and I know that I don't always comment, but your stories are uplifting, funny and intelligent. Plus, the weather is good and as soon as people get their fill they'll be back blogging in no time.

    :o) Keep it up, b/c you're awesome!

  9. Jo, your blog is not boring. I love that you write about different things and share your perspective. I feel like I learn to look at things in different ways when I read your blog and the different comments.

I hope you enjoy your break. Rest up and come back refreshed.

  10. There, see how many nice comments you got! I'd rather read your blog about your original thoughts than all the blogs that just copy and paste (even tho' I do it sometimes, too.)

    Stick around...we'll read and comment!

  11. Jo, I enjoy your blog very much. Haven't been commenting much lately as my life is totally nutters right now. But I have been reading!!

  12. Oh don't be gone for too long, I enjoy your posts so much! =)

  13. Really?? You have 748 followers! That should count more than a few comments. We all love your blog and check in when we can. it's always fun to read your little essays and to catch up, if we've fallen behind. please stay!

  14. I always look forward to your new posts Jo, but I understand taking a break. I just have not had the time lately to visit blogs and leave comments because I have been watching my 2 year old grand daughter and the time I have is too short. She is napping right now, so I am trying to catch up some. I try to view my blog as nothing more than a journal of sorts for myself. I have very few people who visit my blog, but I always really appreciate it when they do visit. Lots of blogs don't have a theme or main focus. I really enjoy those that do, but I don't think I could do one like that because you would be so restricted as to what you would post. I like the variety you have on your blog posts...so hope your stay with it. I would be sad if you quit all together. So take a break, but please come back soon!

  15. A break and a rest is good Jo but I add my voice to those who say you're not boring! I have your blog with my morning coffee and enjoy every word. You're the first one I click on and although I don't always comment, I'm there. Enjoy your rest and return soon!
    Sharon.

  16. I always enjoy reading your blog...it makes me think of things with a different perspective.
I've been having the same problems though with my blog...no real 'category,' just a bunch of rambling about this and that. I think that Spring has sprung and a lot of us in blogland have been busy with sunshiney things!
Enjoy your hiatus and come back refreshed. We'll be here....jj

  17. We don't always have the same opinion, but when something happens in the world I often think "I wonder what Jo will say about this." Sometimes we agree & sometimes I wish we were sitting on your porch so I could argue about it. Heh. But I am NEVER bored.

Enjoy your break - & come back!

  18. Hey, Silly, the fact that your observations on life are not the same as everyone else's is the most compelling reason you should continue to blog. You are never boring, you are informed, and you are charming. Now stop this nonsense and start writing something - anything - and I assure you we will all come running.

  19. Remember, Jo, blogging is not something you have to do just because you started blogging and must meet some kind of 'time parameter' regarding posts.

People are out and about when the weather is good; people will be going on vacation (as you will), and in real life, none of us make demands on a friend that makes them commit to a certain frequency of communication.

Posting when you feel like it is the best way; not feeling compelled to seek a topic to talk about, is what makes for a more interesting 'read'.

    ....just my opinion....

  20. Jo, Just a note to say that I do not find your blog boring at all!!!!! You have a keen mind and are not afraid to use it nor to share your opinions with us. The mere fact that you are not "specialized" is what makes you so interesting. Please don't stop blogging - I may not comment often but I visit frequently.

  22. Like all the others, I say you are not boring. I don't always leave a comment, especially if I get here late.

  23. Jo,

Not true! You have a special place in blogger land. Again, 748 followers is something BIG. This time of year everyone is trying to get outside after the long winter and there's so many more demands on our time. Please don't go away...take a rest, but check back from time to time. We all love you.

  24. Oh Jo, your blog is awesome, and I wouldn't cal 24 comments, hardly any! Besides, you are in your own category: (original, wonderful, and interesting. Take a little break and it will all be better when you return. And have some FUN cher!! Cheers!

  25. Awww Jo, don't go!!! I love your blog. You know, your blog was the very first blog a ever read and followed!!! I love to read your little mussings. If you must go, please hurry back!!!

  26. Jo I think blogland is very quiet at present.
Your blog is most certainly not boring.
We can all get dispondent - including me - I am getting few comments on my Sunday Roasts (with one recent exception), I posted something really funny yesterday on my second blo, Plato's Procrastiantions and got one comment, I posted something tonight on Clouds and have 0 comments so far. It is not you, Jo - it is blogland.
Please come back!! Hugs ~ Eddie

  27. Hello from Michelle. A break is always good. I sometimes wonder about my blog "Mich's West Coast Journal" ...but....I enjoy going to my journal to have the opportunity to express myself - even if I don't receive any comments. Don't worry. You have an amazing 'blog' (journal is what I like to call it)and always write about interesting topics. There are tooooo many blogs on house decorating and recipes, we need something different to read....like your blog! I see you have made many wonderful friends here - that is wonderful! You will feel better after your rest from blogging....but don't give it up! Cheerio from a Vancouver Islander! Michelle

  29. Okay, what? Yours is one of the most interesting blogs that I have found -always fresh and informative! My blog has no category either and that's the best kind of blog in my opinion. I hope you never go away, Jo.

  30. It must be the spring weather luring us out into the world, Jo. I find myself slowing my writing way down, too.
Enjoy your break - we'll all miss you but it'll be fun to hear what you have to say when you return.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Everybody needs a break every now and then. Even if its only a couple of days. As for comments. Even on a slow day you get over 20 comments. I struggle to get 6 or 7 a day.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Joe you should be aware of what might cause some decrease in comments; it's not the quality of your posts. People have other toys such as Facebook which I hear is highly addictive. Besides it's Spring and people are more outdoors than indoors near the computer.

Short breaks are a must. Just don't dissapear like The Cheek Geek whom I miss very much. She's probably overemployed and has no time for blogging.

And don't forget you're BLOG OF NOTE!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have never read your blog before, but now that I have,I find it interesting....boring???,not at all.A writer needs readers,so that's all you should worry about, count the stats and just have fun in blogland.Take a blogvacation if you need one.

  34. NOOOOOO, Trust me, i read all ur blog posts. Though i dont comment owing to the amount of laziness stuffed inside my body.

COme back soon, I always have a good time reading you. TC

  35. Ah...Jo, I'll so miss you. You blog about relevant topics while I blog about...fiber. Oh, and dogs. I hope your time away will give you back your blogging mojo and I'll see posts from you in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Aw c'mon! You must be blind to how good your blog is. Trust me, your blog is well loved! (you are too of course)

And one more thing. Sometimes being uncategorized is good. When you don't have a big obtrusive label slapped on you, it gives you freedom to write about ANYTHING you want. Ramble, rant, whatever. Don't bother that you font have nice photos, don't care about not having a specific theme. Just WRITE coz whatever it is you're doing, it's good stuff.

  37. Blogs are supposed to have categories?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I almost fainted when I read this post Jo! You are NOT boring and I think you're totally relevant - you are the blogger who originally inspired me to jump into the fray. I can understand taking a break, but please come back! I've been traveling and sick the last few weeks so I haven't been around lately.

You have a unique voice - and you are authentic, which is not something you can say about every blogger.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I hope you will soon be back your blog is one of my favorites. Have a good rest.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ah Jo, looking forward to your return, whenever the mood strikes!

  41. Jo, I'm sorry you are leaving. I love your blog for its difference. I get to read something other than fluff and that is fantastic. I haven't been commenting because I haven't been writing or reading much of anything. Work has been crazy so I've been absent too. I hope to see you on the other side of the hiatus.

  42. I read your blog each day and I love it, I just don't leave comments. Keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Some of us who read regularly smile and think and enjoy but don't feel we have much of a contribution to make and therefore do not comment. Enjoy your hiatus, but please come back. I, for one, will make an effort to chime in with comments more often. Yours is the first blog on my reader list and I never miss it.

  44. I don't see anything boring going on here! But you might enjoy a break anyway. Everything going okay on your end of the world? Health okay? Work bopping along? Treehouse alright? RAINING here this evening. Go, go get some rest! Return renewed. D

  45. Here from the Sunday Roast. I completely understand those feelings - it's tough when you feel your blog isn't really "about" something. I hope you stick at it, if only for the selfish reason that I've only just started reading you!

    ReplyDelete
  46. funny, but your posts have appeal precisely because they aren't all those things you mention - they're more like sit-down-with-tea conversations with an old friend.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jo, I hope you had a nice break! Never fear, your blog is NEVER boring -EVER! I may not weigh in all the time, but I immensely enjoy all your posts! Sometimes I will read two weeks worth in one sitting! You have a wonderful gift!!!
