My last few posts have been rather -- serious -- so I thought I would lighten things up a bit and invite you over to my tree house to see my (new to me) Delft lamp. Sometimes I manage to find things that are so perfect, even I can't believe it. I have been looking for a new lamp, and I have been searching everywhere from flea markets to upscale lamp stores -- to no avail. Yesterday I found the perfect lamp from a Shaughnessy estate sale -- for nothing. Seriously -- free! That's a price even I can afford. All I have to do is buy a new lampshade. But I love the lamp because it matches my other little blue and white
Have a fabulous Sunday, everyone!
It reminds me of a couple little vases and pots I have. Cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful when you find just the thing you're looking for, after all, it's the little things that make everything else worthwhile. Hope you have a marvelous Sunday :D
ReplyDeleteDr. M brought some Currier & Ives blue & white dishes to our marriage. I've always loved them & your lamp would match perfectly.
ReplyDeleteJo, What a find - and the shade looks great too. Your "treehouse" is very warm indeed!
ReplyDeleteLove your lamp and tree house. I'm not allowed in trees....I get scared and the nice (muscular) fireman has to rescure me....purrrrrrrrrrrr...there's a lovely tree close by...bye ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for the white-blue combo!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday, too. ;)
I hope that is the NEW lampshade, because it's just perfect as it is. And yes, all those lovely little objects are perfectly match. You have a lovely little treehouse, and I'm glad I had a chance to visit.
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting find!
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp, what a treasure-find! And it's good to see "the light is on and somebody actually IS 'home'"! (<-- Your blogs are always a treat, pure enlightenment!)
ReplyDeletelovely delft lamp, and i love the shade, too.
ReplyDeletewe have collected a few delft piece and
really love their soft blue and white
images of sweet dutch scenes.
congratulations on a steal!
. . . now don't go getting all 'greedy' on
us. :)
It's fun to see tiny glimpses into a blogger's world. For me, at least. And I love the blue objets d'art around the book on art. And love that lamp. I like the way that you wait and restrain yourself before making a purchase. Like you're waiting patiently for just the perfect thing to come along.
ReplyDeleteJo the lamp is beautiful and harmonizes well with your other ceramics.
ReplyDeleteI love that lampshade too. I'm sure it gives that corner a warm light. You have lovely taste in your furnishings!
That was a very fair question. But a little off topic. I was addressing the creation of evil, and you asked about salvation.
ReplyDeleteThe only answer I can give in all honesty is; "I DON"T KNOW."
My particular dogma is that only God knows what lays in a person's heart. And that there is no amount of evil a person can do, that God will not forgive when He is asked in earnest. By the same token, there is no amount of good works a person can do to earn salvation.
This is what it means when the bible says "Do not judge, lest you be judged." It really is that simple. But it takes some deep thinking to get to the crux of the matter.
Be well and thanks for putting up with me.
Don't you just love it when you find just the right thing...and for next to nothing is such a huge bonus.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby was at a garage sale yesterday and for what would have been a dollar yes a dollar he got the huge coffee mug that he wanted now here is the bonus a cover for our snowmobile...yes..all for a dollar can you believe it!!!!
So great find for you!!!
You're on a lucky streak. Love the lamp!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and you also got some great photos of them. I have a feeling you have your treehouse decorated beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWow those look very cute and very quaint! Lovin 'em.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! I love my "new" little lamp. It looks very cozy on my desk. I think I will keep the lampshade it has on it now. It looks rather nice.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Jo
It's beautiful! Don't you just love new (or, even better, new-to-you) items? They always give me a fuzzy warm feeling, particularly when they are the perfect fit, as your lamp is.
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp, Jo! It's as if IT found you. And the price was certainly right. Great find!
ReplyDeleteI like the lamp and the other things -- but what I like the MOST is seeing that great chair on your terrace in the background!!!
