As human beings, we all suffer from the same condition -- the human condition. We are human, with all the wonder, beauty, faults and frailties that make us human. Over the past year, as I have visited your blogs, I have seen so many of you enjoying the highs and enduring the lows that being human entails -- illness, divorce, job loss, and also career changes, engagements, births, reunions -- some sad and some wonderful things. The one thing I have observed is that the more different we are, the more we are all the same. As a community, we have felt each other's pain and joy, and often we have been asked to pray for each other. I believe in the power of prayer. It is a very strong force in the universe, and I have seen it work.
I have always been the eternal optimist. I have always believed that problems are sort of like wormholes in the universe; we go into them in one place, and come out of them at the other side in a better place. Problems are God's ways of telling us that something needs to change -- for the better. Often the solution is obvious, and often we have to struggle with it. The worst thing we can do is nothing. Any solution is better than nothing. Often the very act of beginning to solve a problem has a way of making us feel better. We are doing something positive; we are moving forwards through the wormhole.
Without getting into specifics, someone I know is going through a difficult time at the moment. This person is entering a wormhole and will eventually end up at a much better place in the universe, but in the meantime it is going to be a difficult journey. I believe very strongly in angels, and sometimes angels will intercept in our lives in ways that seem strange at the time, but in hindsight we realize the purpose of it. And I know the angels will guide this person through the wormhole and safely out the other side, to a much better place in the universe.

I also believe in angels and have actually felt the hands of one lifting me and my bicycle from the path of a speeding truck. I have no doubt that they are with us, and that they guide and protect us while still allowing us to make our own mistakes because that is how we learn the lessons we came here to learn. Doing nothing teaches us nothing.
I hope that the person you write about will come through the wormhole with renewed confidence and a much stronger joy in life.
Yes, I too believe in Angels and specifically Guardian Angels. We all have them and they are commissioned to look after us.
Could do with one myself right now, as we all could from time to time.
I hope your friend is helped soon and has a much happier time early in 2011.
You're right about the power of prayer; it works both as community prayer (i.e. for bringing down rain), and as an individual's prayer.
I always say that I prefer those who pray to GOD, to those who believe THEY are GOD.
Fifteen years ago I decided to quit smoking. I did that very same day and have not had a smoke since. Yes, I believe in Guardian Angels. I hope there is one is looking after you, friend
I hope your friend reads your post.
I went for several years to a psychic in Boulder who told me the names of my spirit guides. I have never told another person their names, but I call upon them for help now and then. Once, after several years, I went back to the psychic and she told me their names again, and I asked her how she remembered, and she laughed and said they told her! I feel their presence when I am in difficult times.
I hope your friend calls upon those guides, or angels, whatever you call them, for assistance, because I know they will respond somehow.
Dr. M wrote a poem last year (our Christmas poem) about angels. The last verse says:
It is clear to me: for once, I do not have an answer,
But perchance a revelation, if I may be so bold.
As we live out lives oft racked with pain and sorrow
Where tomorrow is no certain thing, perhaps an angel
Unaware is the one who comforts us and in so doing
Brings good tidings of great joy…perhaps that angel
I now seek, and sometimes pause to listen for
Is at my door, in full view, and looks a lot like you?
Wow... I know this wasn't for me but It could've been. 2011 I'm getting out of the wormhole
Thanks.
I am strong believer in the Angels. I have read books about them and others experiences with them. Angels and prayer...can help us get through some of the darkest of times.
I have long believed that from time to time humans become conduits for The Power . . . become angels . . .
I swear to you that years ago, during the bleakest time of my adult life, an angel spoke to me while I shopped in Wal-Mart! Her attention reassured me that I was not, as I had begun to fear, invisible. After she turned away, I stood and stared after her, breathless for a few minutes.
Anyway it was a nice post...!!
I'll be praying for the person you are writing about. I belive that we all have angles with us. Its when we tracel through the worm holes that we can see them the clearist. When we are surrounded by dark we see their light.
I feel the same way, although I haven't phrased it as eloquently as you have before. I think the whole point of faith is that you have to leap into the unknown and just believe that you will land in a better, safer place in the end. :)
I love the wormhole idea. It makes the visual of great change a bit less scary. You are right, sometimes simply taking a step in the direction of help is enough to give you the strength to muster on. I recently opted to seek professional help and the simple act of making an appointment altered my entire outlook.
I believe angels are everywhere, all the time. We don't always need them and certainly rarely recognize them, but they're there.
That was a beautiful way to express it. Our pain can drive us, or our sense of wonder, of hope. And sometimes the wormholes must have their day, but it may surprise you to know that I believe as you do. We come out to a more wondrous place. May your friend's angels guide her safely to the more wondrous place.
Oh yes, I believe in angels too. I'll send an extra few your friend's way and hope it helps.
Wishing you a wonderful, happy and healthy new year. Mayt he angels watch over you.
Cheers, jj
I am not so sure about angels and spirits and the power of prayer, but it sounds nice and certainly has a positive ring to it. Why not?!
Regarding your friend, everyone goes through difficult times. Some people let the hard times push them down and others grow from adversity.
I hope this person chooses to let this situation make them a stronger person. It is not easy and there will be ups and downs along the way.
But this person needs to keep pushing forward and have faith (yes, I said that, didn't I?!) that in the end things will be better - just as you said.
Life is what you make it. That is an old adage but there is a reason it is an old adage - it is true.
Belief is a powerful concept -
Packing up the holiday decor.......I just wrapped my angel that says "I Believe". Maybe I will let her sit out awhile longer, you know, to guide me through my wormhole. Lots of power in believing.
Jo this is a very good post and I enjoyed reading it tonight.
I too believe in Angels and thank goodness we have them around us.
I wanted to come by and wish you a very Happy New Year
Love ya
Maggie
So true! I believe in angels too and one day may share my angel story. For now though, your friend needs prayers and maybe, just maybe, a miracle will be shown to them and a solution, along with comfort and peace will be given in spite of the circumstances and difficulties.
Happy New Year Jo !
I do believe that the energy generated by collective caring has an impact on the receiver (and the giver).
I send my energy your friend's way.
I need more optimism in my life.
"the more different we are, the more we are all the same"
absolutely love this..... glad I found your blog
Amen sweetie! My prayers are with this person, God knows the situations and your so correct. I've never been through anything bad that something good didn't happen from it. It's just the hindsight baby!
God bless you and have a terrific day!!!
BTW: Wormhole...great analogy!!! :o)
I think you'd enjoy watching the DVD (actually two) titled:
#1 - MIND WALK
#2 - WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW
As you put together your analogy to wormholes, I think both of these DVD's and their content, would appeal to you.
Also, if you think about it, many times we can help others with problems but fail to be able to do the same for ourselves.
I think we tend to become those 'angels' when we see suffering externally, and it's not as profound when it's inside ourselves.
We're able to visualize better when the situation is not an internal one that we're grappling with.
I also believe when we have difficulties, this gives us a chance to 'rise up', and once we resolve the problem, we often can aid another who has a similar problem.
No matter what a person believes in, if they believe in it strongly, it generates a power that can be utilized.
I'm sure your friend has had the benefit of your support, and you'll be like one of many 'angels' who'll come to her aid, and that compassion will give her the power she needs as well.
Many times I've been aided by a power greater than me, in ways I never expected. I believe we're all in this together. May your friend find her way.
I believe that too!
witty, wise and "worm-less" woman.
Nice real comparison.
You are a good writer.
