Today I am off to the beautiful little village of Ladner to visit Leslie, and we're going to see
"The King's Speech". I will let you know what I think of it. I want to see it before Oscar night, because I have a feeling it's going to win
all the a lot of awards. The British know how to make movies.
And here is the real King George VI's wartime speech. You can hear him pausing occasionally.
Have a great weekend, everyone...!
thanks for putting this in your blog, Jo. Some of us won't see the movie until it's released on DVD, and I wanted to hear this largely ignored speech. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI just listened to the original speech, and I am even more impressed with the making of the movie; it was exactly as Firth did it. I can't WAIT to hear what you think of the movie, Jo!
ReplyDeletei promise you will LOVE it! i can't

I completely agree with Djan...I'm even more impressed after hearing the historic original speech.
ReplyDeleteFirth deserves an Academy Award for this authentic portrayal.
I look forward to your review, Jo!
Hope you have a good time!

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to your review!
ReplyDeleteFriends are telling me its pretty impressive and asking if I have seen it (what with my own profession, you know). But, no, haven't seen it yet. Maybe soon. I like Colin Firth. The Stuttering Foundation has come out with a neat poster with his picture on it. D
ReplyDelete"The King's Speech" isn't really my type of movie, but I'm curious to see if you will post some pics of the town.
