Is there anyone else besides me who finds these people just ever so slightly cheesy? Am I missing something? What am I missing? Brad Womack is described as a heartbreaker. I suppose he is a nice fellow, moderately good-looking in a David Hasselhoff sort of way, but a heart-breaker? He's an oil worker who got into bartending. In his first go-round as "The Bachelor" in 2007, he did the "unthinkable" by not choosing either Jenni Croft or DeAnna Pappas. They may have escaped with their lives.I haven't followed the series because ... well, I would rather waste my time doing something else. But I did click onto the ending of the final show to see which woman he chose. Barbie and Ken are alive... Seriously, these people scare me.
What happens when the final roses wilt?
I've never watched this series. Quite frankly, it scares me. Reality tv is beyond control. There is absolutely nothing realistic about The Bachelor. Seriously, how many guys get a houseful of pretty, plastic women just vying for his love while he dithers about which one to choose? Have any of the relationships panned out? I don't even know how many seasons there have been, but i'm guessing the success rate of the relationships isn't super fantastic...

ReplyDeleteHaha it is so true! And to make matters worse he is 38 years old while she is 24 - with a child! Crazy, however I must admit, I've watched almost every episode - pathetic, I know :(
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking that maybe this show leads to sister wives? Who would seriously want a man so superficial? I want a man who loves me enough to hold my hair out of the way when I am vomiting. Somehow I don't picture this guy in that role ......
ReplyDeleteI guess I am too old to have gotten into reality TV, and I'm so glad. I've only watched a few eps of "Dancing With the Stars" and the rest have been going on without me. I didn't even know about this one...
ReplyDeleteBarbie and Ken, ha ha ha, I love it. I've been saying all along that I have never seen anyone more devoid of personality than Brad. His final choice is a close second. What a colossal waste of time and I hate to admit it but I've watched most of the season.

ReplyDeleteLet 5 minutes pass ... I'm back. I Googled this pair and, well, it appears Ms. Emily was not happy watching Mr. Perfect tell all those other ladies how much he adored them, too ... whoa! Yes, that would be a bit hard to take.
It also appears Mr. Perfect has a temper problem. Not good.
I guess we should leave Disney type fantasies to the movies and real people should lead real lives.
And real life is not reality TV. Of course all such shows are driven by money, money, money ...
Even beautiful people are still ... people.

I didn't watch the show this season because I didn't like that guy the first time and I didn't want to waste my time, but I also watched the last hour (after the rose) and I am glad that Emily chose not to marry right away. She needs to make him wait (if indeed she does marry him at all - and I don't think she will).

I've never watched the show. The basic concept is repulsive, like a flesh auction. And they are more than a bit cheesy. I wonder if they have the same reproductive abilities as Barbie and Ken.
ReplyDeleteOn some of these shows you really wonder. Contestants are chosen for their looks and not always their abilities. Just look at some of the contestants on Survivor and Amazing Race (both shows of which I am a huge fan). But the worse part are these pick a partner shows. Its like they just choose after looks and not always compatability.

I don't watch the show, like you I can waste my time with other things. I do wonder about these people though. I mean, what must have happened in a person's life that lead them to chose realtiy dating as a career?

ReplyDeleteI have watched this show randomly over the years. Mostly I get caught up in it when it runs in the long, dark days of winter...haha. I didn't see this guy on his earlier outing, so didn't hate him going in, which some did. That said, I'm not proud to admit I watch this schlock, but it's winter in the north and I have a bit of SAD, I think. So as my grandad used to say, Any port in a storm. Mindless? Yes.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear this show is edited to within an inch of life, so who knows what really goes on, but I was happy to see that Barbie has concerns about Ken's apparent anger issues. He overreacts a lot. She'll never please him and one day he might take a swing at her. I think it's likely to flame out now that the cameras are off of them, but who knows? There are two seemingly successful marriages (out of about 1000 seasons, right?). Stranger things have happened.
