Happy Thanksgiving to my American Friends

The First Thanksgiving
Jean Louis Gerome Ferris

I am still having trouble on and off logging onto Blogger. Argh. In any case, Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends. I hope everyone is spending today with folks they love, and are having a wonderful meal, perhaps watching some football, and then a lovely, long snooze.  Enjoy, everyone!

Could I be the first one to respond to this post??! Whoa! This is a .... first! (Double entendre?)

Thank you. Of course here in the states Thanksgiving has become the official start of the Christmas season. Tomorrow is Black Friday and there are stores opening at 10 tonight and others at midnight.

You Canadians have it right -- second Monday of October. That makes a lot more sense.

Here's my annual Thanksgiving joke: A man was in a fancy restaurant and saw a person at another table eating peas with his knife.

The man said "I was so upset I dropped a handful of mashed potatoes!"

Take care. (And will someone please explain to me what is supposed to be funny about that joke??!)

Thank you Jo! We just finished our Thanksgiving meal and cleaned up and I'm sitting here with a glass of left over champagne with pomegranate seeds and reading some of my favorite bloggers. I'm thankful for you and your blog. It's always interesting and enlightening and provocative!

Thank you, Jo. We seem to be in holiday season now, like it or not. I wouldn't be caught dead in a store on Black Friday, but will have to make my usual drive tomorrow on roads clogged with bargain hunters.

Today, I had a lovely visit with my son, for which I am grateful.

I also wouldn't be anywhere near a store today, for all the obvious reasons. And I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, just me and my guy and a salmon and delicata squash feast. You are one of the reasons I am thankful, just to have your blog to read and ponder.

Thank you, Jo. We had a lovely meal with three of our eight children and three of our eight grandchildren.

Our 18-year-old potbellied pig, Bud, passed away in the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning. We were grateful for all the years we had with him.

Thank you for your thoughts. I, myself, did ALL of the above.
