I'm Baaaaaack

For some strange reason, I have not been able to log onto my Blogger account for the past week. It wouldn't accept my password. So I have been unable to post here, or to post comments on all your wonderful blogs. But today, et voila! it's working again. So, this is just a brief note to say hello, and to show you my new ghastly rain hat. Isn't it a hoot? I'm definitely not a hat person, but with all the torrential rains we have been getting lately, a hat has become a necessity here in Vancouver. I have always chuckled at people who wear hats *ironically*. Some hats are sort of like the ironic beards men have effected lately. You know they're wearing them just as a way to say, "Look at me, look at me..." The Tilley Endurable hat is the most ironic of them all, and it makes a statement about the wearer: "I've been to Africa; I've been to Australia, you can tell by my hat..." I actually thought about buying a Tilley Endurable hat, but then I thought the irony of it would be just a little too pretentious. So, I ended up with this gawd-awful thing. But, hey ... it works. I wore it in the pouring rain yesterday, it kept me dry, and best of all, when I took it off, I didn't have hat hair. All in all, a good investment.

It's lovely to see you all again.  I'll be back soon.

Cheers,

Jo

  4. Hmmm...I happen to like hats, although I think that may be obvious by my picture!

  8. Tilley hats are the BEST! And there's nothing icky about that one, I actually LOVE it. Maybe it's time for a trip to Vancouver's very best hat store...

  9. Blogger has been weird this week. Another blog I follow, there was message posted on late on Wednesday night. I wanted to comment but was too tired. Thursday morning it is gone. Saturday it is back again and still dated for Wednesday. Is that ironic or gawd-awful? Nice hat, if it keeps dry & you don't get hat hair who cares if it is gawd-awful or ironic?

  10. I happen to love your hat! I love hats in general...and beards. I am lovin' the facial hair young men are sporting these days.

  11. I'm having problems, too. I added a gmail account, intending it to be secondary to the one I actually use, and Google made it my primary one. Now I can't comment on a lot of blogs and I also am unable to delete the account without losing my own blog as well. I now HATE Google.

    The hat is cute!

  12. I just bought a knit hat to keep warm. My mother always told me, "If your feet are cold, put on a hat."
I try to wear it ironically; but in fact I just look a little nerdy. Sigh.

  13. You were missed, Jo! And that hat is definitely a keeper -- you look good in it and no hat hair afterwards? What's not to like?

  15. I was just in Vancouver today. Fortunately, I didn't see a hat store. I look wretched in hats.

  17. I stopped shaving n '07 where is the irony in my beard...I just ran hot water through it to make my morning tea and I got some crumbs to steep but no irony. Yet then there is the hat...Ironically enough I wouldn't wear that one but occasionally in the rain I change out my ball cap for a wool fedora.

  19. I love that hat! My head is kind of small (I know, I'm amazed by that fact too) so I have SUCH a hard time finding a hat that won't fall down into my eyes. But Ohio winters demand some kind of head covering (at least for me - I don't like to be cold!), so I persevere...

  20. Hope it doesn't blow off today with all the wind we are having. I have never been able to wear a hat - too round a face.

  21. Many of us guys wish that we had a "hat hair" problem because that would mean that we have, well, you know...

Great that you're back. Normally you alert your faithful readership that you'll be taking a break, so when you didn't that was a cause for worry.

I wear glasses so I usually don't wear a hat- too much stuff on my face

  23. I had a hat that looked like one of those old-fashioned paper boys hats--the kind the little street urchins in movies wore. It looked good on me and someone STOLE IT. Yeah. Imagine. I've been in mourning ever since.

    Ya looks gorgeous, dahlink.

Hey, I bet it's YOU who sent that lovely crew of men from Vancouver to my street to put the telephone poll back UP and clear away the six trees that were in the street. Right? I bet you did. That's the sort of thing you'd do.

We cannot do without you here, so we may have to picket Blogger if this happens again.

  24. I'm loving the hat! I'm not a hat person at all! My face is too round, but I wish I could wear them. I had to go look up what a Tilley Endurable hat is. I think you'd look cute in one Jo!
