Dug The Dog

We've all had dogs that were so human, we swear they could talk. And they certainly understood every word we said. I had a Scottie dog named Maggie who absolutely loved aged cheddar cheese. It got to the point where we actually had to spell the word.

"Would you like a c-h-e-e-s-e sandwich?"

However, Maggie learned to spell.

Yesterday I saw the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. Ever... Yes, it was. It was done by Pixar, it was 3-D, and it was wonderful. We have been looking for ways to cool off, so we have been spending a bit of time in air conditioned movie theatres during the hottest (100 degrees) part of the day. The Munchkins suggested a movie called "Up", and I have never seen a more visually beautiful movie. The 3-D glasses are not the red/green glasses of regular 3-D movies, but eyeglasses similar to sunglasses, and very comfortable to wear. Seeing a movie like this in three dimensions is breathtaking. When the audience arrived at Paradise Falls in South America, I could actually hear everyone in the theatre *gasp*.

My favorite character was Dug the talking dog. If you've ever imagined what your dog would say if he could actually talk, that's Dug.

"I am Dug; I have just met you, and I love you..."

Here is a wonderful clip of Dug the Dog, and here is the trailer for the movie. If you're looking for somewhere to keep cool, or just for an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours, please do check out this movie -- in the theatres with the 3-D glasses. You will be gobsmacked. And you will fall in love with Dug.

Okay. I'm talking Bailey to see this movie! I know he will wear his sun glasses and will probably write a review afterwards!

I hope I can convince the ticket taker he is only 7 .... but in dog years that's, well, uh, I'll just buy two adult tickets!!

Can't wait to see this one!

I loved this movie so very much. It's impossible to watch it and not feel happy, and in awe. It is so vivid, and sweet and touching.

I loved Dug, too :-) I've also had three different Scotties in my life

@TC -- We usually wait for movies to come out on DVD also. I'm used to being able to pause when I want, etc. A friend of mine saw it with her family, called me and said that I needed to make an exception, so I took my son to see it (he's eighteen, and very tolerant of me, clearly).

There are some movies that really need the big screen. Up would be a wonderful film to see parked comfortably in front of the DVD player, it's a wonderful story.

But if you can swing it, get to a theater to see it. It's like having another dimension opened in your imagination.

Oh I just love Dug! We had a westie when I was growing up, and she also loved cheese. If you gave her a piece she would take it aside, put it on the ground and stare at it, then pick it up gingerly and slowly eat it, absolutely enraptured in the experience. When she got very old, however, she would just wolf it down, no doubt thinking that she had better just eat it while she still had the chance.

Loved Up! It smacks of Oscar nominations, doesn't it? THIS WEEKS COINCIDENCE: Dug is featured in my Tuesday blog: "I Demand a Re-Count"! Great minds, eh?

Consider me gobsmacked. Sitting here watching this trailer, I laughed out loud at Dug the Dog, introducing himself and . . .

SQUIRREL!!!

finishing introducing himself. Oh, so funny!! Only wish I had a little one to take to the movies. I need Rent a Kid.

Russell, you always crack me up, and by the way, when are you going to start blogging again? I miss seeing those beautiful pics of Iowa and Bailey. (Hope you don't mind the side chat Jo)
We loved UP. My husband and I were crying our eyes out at the beginning. He reached over for my hand, and said "Don't die." I wish I could promise I won't.
My dog Jazmin can talk. If you ask her how her day went, she moans. It is really funny. I liked the SQUIRREL bit in the movie because if you say "Squirrel" to Jazmin she goes absolutely berserk looking all over the place. If she is in the house she will run around in circles barking skidding on the hardwood floors, turning up carpets, looking under furniture and finally makes everyones ears hurt by barking and whining at the door, because certainly if you said "Squirrel", you were not lying, and it must be made to stop moving.
Can I use the word gobsmacked? I'm in love with that word now.

My husband and I loved this movie. We didn't see it in 3-D, but it was still visually stunning. And we loved Dug! No doubt a great couple of hours spent watching something fun.

I knew this would be a good movie, when I saw it advertised during the Superbowl! What a great escape...from the heat too!

I love Pixar entertainment. I think it's absolutely brilliant. "Up" was wonderful and I actually cried. I felt like such a dolt sitting there crying over a kid and surrogate Grandpa sitting on a curb together. Pouty is the eternal sentimentalist apparently.

What a great movie "UP" is. So cute, funny and above all, poignant! I didn't expect to shed so many tears, though - it was a little embarrassing! :D Dug was my favorite character.
