Pray For Snow...!

Vancouver will be hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics in less than a month, and right now it's more like spring than winter. Last week as I was walking up from the beach, I saw a beautiful peach-colored rosebud, happily blooming next to a garden wall. Many of the shrubs are filled with blooms ready to burst open, and the furniture birds are happily singing their little heads off in the trees. Even the raccoons are starting to lurk about in the trees, waiting for the crows to lay their eggs. What's going on? Folks from around the world who are expecting to come to Canada to find the land of ice and snow, are more likely to see new, fresh growth on the palm trees. Yes, we have palm trees in Vancouver -- lots of them.

Please ... pray for snow...!

Cheers,

Hopefully there's some snow up higher where people will want to be sliding on it ??? If there was no snow for the Winter Olympics... inconceivable... Can they be moved to Banff at the last minute if they have to ?

I'll try and send some snow your way, right now it is snowing a couple inches an hour here. Dumping Snow!

If only we could send the blizzard we are experiencing here today! 10 feet are expected over the next week. Maybe it will work it's way up to Vancouver. I'm praying!!

Odd how the snow is falling in places that normally never see snow, and those of us who expect it for months see nothing.

Yes, Winter Olympics would be a little sad without snow!

I'd like some snow here as well. It was in the fifties here today, and I had to keep reminding myself that it's still January.

Al Gore was right...... sort of.

We've still got plenty of snow here! Where do I box it up and mail it to?

But the bus will still be free, right?
LOL!

I'm praying, and if I can figure out a way, I'll send you some of our snow! :)

You're really looking for controversy aren't you? Bragging about your beautiful weather while others are freezing their tuchas off.

I'd never point out how mild the winters are here and how we can easily enjoy a world of outdoor activities while much of the world is locked indoors.

I'd never mention how warm the water is and how great it feels to tear off your clothes and jump in while others are wearing layer upon layer and feeling the chill to their bones.

The last think I'd ever do while people go bankrupt from their heating bills is say that my windows are open to let all that warm air flow through the house.

I have friends living in Vancouver who went to school and they have also commented on how little snow there is around the city.

It was 12 degrees at 2pm today, it felt more like April than January. My day lillies are up 2 inches tall!
I heard recently that Translink has finally decided to put turnstiles in the skytrain stations.

I was just watching the news about the Olympics and they interviewed many upbeat Canadians who are very excited about the upcoming events. Your beloved city is going to be crowded Jo...and you just know many are praying for snow.

quitting sending the arctic blasts this way may help.

I don't think any one visiting will be disappointed in what you have described. I sure wouldn't be! Sounds WONDERFUL to me!

Owen, either that, or they can change it to the summer Olympics. Goodness...! It's ridiculously warm.

Jennifer, gosh, I would love some snow. Please send some!

Nancy, ten feet of snow??? Egads!!! Please send some our way.

VioletSky, well, I guess we were all warned about climate change, and it does appear to have happened.

Alissa, it's in the 50s here too. Winter took a vacation this year... *heh*

Kathy, yes, I have always believed Al Gore was right. His documentary was very convincing and seems to be coming true.

Houndstooth, oh, please send some our way. Folks will be water-skiing instead of alpine skiing if things don't change here soon.

Cloudia, LOL. Yes, the bus will still be free. *sigh*

Paula, oh goodness yes. If everyone got together and sent some our way, that would be great.

Mia, *heh* You're so lucky to be living in that wonderful climate. It's a little too chilly for swimming here yet -- but... I have actually had my windows open, though. It was just too warm the other day, and it's January.

Firefly, the conditions in November looked perfect, but since then everything has washed away. *sigh*

Susan, LOL...!!! Maybe the idiots at Translink read my blog. Or at least read my e-mail. *heh*

Kathy, I am actually sort of excited too, much to my surprise. It will be interesting to see what the world thinks of our city.

Mark, *heh* -- the Alberta Clipper?

Brenda, some of my co-workers walk to work, the weather is so balmy. It's crazy!

As you are praying for snow, I am praying for sunshine!!! If only you could see what I am seeing right now: sheets and sheets of snow falling ever so gracefully. Sure it is pretty but yikes it makes for quite the commute!! :) I do hope some of this white stuff comes your way for the winter olympics!!

Blonde Bookwork, omigoodness...! I'll trade you. It feels more like March or April here, definitely not weather for the Winter Olympics...! :-)

Oh Jo, when Calgary had the Olympics in 1988 we had a Chinook blow through melting the bobsled track. It was +20°C and the middle of February.

Things will work out just the way they should! :) Any snow we get I promise to try and reroute it over to you!

I'm really excited for you and your city!
