Synchronicity, The New Moon, And The Midnight Train To Georgia

Last night I had dinner with a friend at a steakhouse here in Vancouver called Pinkys. It was wonderful. The decor at Pinkys is retro 1970s, with nostalgic music to match -- "Midnight Train to Georgia" was one of the songs I heard. The food and the service was excellent, which is always good because it leaves folks relaxed and able to enjoy the company of their friends. Our waiter was attentive without being obtrusive. I had a filet mignon, done to perfection, and my friend and I shared a crème caramel for desert.

When I got home, I decided to put my feet up and watch "Twilight, the New Moon". Oh, I know, I know, I'm a 13 year-old girl at heart. The movies are completely silly, but they're fun and they're filmed here in Vancouver. The movie stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and a small part by Dakota Fanning. Well, it turns out that while the stars of the movie were filming here, they visited Pinkys Steakhouse and sat at the same booth where my friend and I had just had dinner. Okay, as far as my claim to fame goes, those are pretty slim pickings, but I love synchronicity like that. I also love a well-cooked steak (medium rare, please) so, if you live in Vancouver, I recommend Pinkys Steakhouse. I wonder if Edward Cullen asked for his steak raw rare.

You dinner sounds yummy.
I just watched New Moon last night, I liked it but the books are just so much better. Of course!

Sweta, with lots of blood. *heh*

Jennifer, yes, I have heard the books are better. Kristen Stewart is adorable, but is not a good actress.

A wonderful synchronicity! And anyway you are a celebrity in your own right :)

Shaista, aww.... thank you! :-)

I'd say that's a clear case of synchronicity! I loved the books; I couldn't put them down. I watched the first movie and spent the entire time waiting for it to get good. I thought the acting was really awkward. And the movie couldn't hold a candle to the descriptiveness of the book. I have heard that New Moon isn't nearly as bad...

I much prefer the un-romanticized werewolves and vampire stories.

I'll have to check Pinky's out next time we go to Vancouver. And I read the first two books and guess I'm not really a teenager at heart. They were okay but not great, to me anyway. I haven't seen New Moon and probably won't, but thanks for the review anyway.

Nice music video; took me back to Atlanta 1970's and Gladys at the Underground!

I dropped in from Cloudia's.

Whitney, I haven't read the books, but I rather enjoyed both the movies. But I do agree the acting was awkward. Kirsten Stewart is probably the world's worst actress, but she fits the role otherwise.

KrippledWarrior, did you ever see "Vampire" with Gary Oldman, Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins? That was my favorite Vampire movie, and was true to Bram Stoker's book.

Cloudia, aloha to you! Have a wonderful Sunday in beautiful Hawaii. :-)

The Panorama, I find them fun because they are filmed here in Vancouver, and I recognize a lot of the scenery, and the old, dark rain forest.

DJan, well I watched it out of curiosity, and I was surprised to find I rather enjoyed it. The acting, however, was awful. :-)

Lakeviewer, hello! I love Gladys Knight and the Pips, and I hadn't thought about them for ages. It was fun to hear them again.

I love synchronicity and new moons, but am not a fan of steaks and have not seen the Twilight films. Glad you had a fun evening in your beautiful city.

sigh...dear Jo, hope you are fine. You wouldn't believe how much this song was on my mind tonight, the whole day, filled so many memories.
Thank you very much for your entry.
It was one of the first that I bought, still used by a record player...a wonderful start into spring and the new week as well.

Sounds like fun. You are much more on top of current things that my husband and I. We went into Best Buy yesterday and there was a huge crowd. We asked the cashier why and he said because New Moon just came out. We had no clue what he was talking about. I guess there is a new version of the series out now?? Haven't read it or seen the film, but I am guessing it is very popular.

I do neither like the Books, nor the Movies. I'm okay with others who do, but for me Bella is, I cannot name it, or else I might use vulgar words, sorry!
I watched both & even read one.... though only, so I know what to dislike. ;)

Susan, I think I eat steak about once a year, but when I do, I really enjoy it. Filet mignon - delicious. :-)

Robert...! Talk about synchronicity. You had the song going through your head, et voila, there it is on my blog. Have a fabulous week! :-)

Brenda, well, it is really geared towards teenagers, teenage girls to be precise. But it is filmed here in Vancouver, so I have seen the two movies. They're fun.

PinkPanthress, well, I do have to agree with you that the girl who plays Bella is a dreadful actress. It's almost painful to watch her. But the movies are fun, mainly because they are filmed here.

Filet mignon is delicious when it's done right. And medium rare is how I like mine, although I rarely eat red meat. What a cool place, too. Thanks for showing us.

Medium-rare has my vote too! YUM! Synchronicity is cool! :)
