Some Things I Have Learned Today...

Today I learned ... if you and the other women in the office are going to chat about how handsome the new, young, resident doctor is, make sure he is not standing right behind you.

I learned if you receive a group e-mail stating a new policy whereby employees cannot wear sandals to work due to safety reasons, and you reply saying, "Well, that's just silly... we work in an office...", make sure you don't hit "reply all". *Oops* It seems that everyone agreed with me, and today everyone is wearing sandals.

And last, but not least, I learned that if you've had a rough day and want a good night's sleep, don't eat baked beans for dinner. They're delicious, they're nutritious, but ...

Have a fabulous day, everyone.

No danger there. I hate baked beans. But thanks for the heads up. And it IS silly to prohibit sandals in an office unless they fear someone will get them stuck in a copy machine.

We have a director who has a phobia about having to look at other men's toes so he wanted to ban men from wearing sandals. But we told him we really couldn't do that unless we banned women's sandals too. He dropped the subject. I assume he just doesn't look at people's feet in the summer!

Oh dear, an upset tummy feels particularly unfair during the summer, doesn't it?

Never fear, you probably made the young resident's day :-)

Very good points to learn! Too funny!

I have gotten into trouble myself with that "reply all" button. It can be quite embarrassing. Hope the beans have made their way through your system by now...

This sounds a lot like the start and ending of my weekend, one not fun thing after another..

Great post, as always I love reading your stuff! And really, no sandals in an office? I don't know what I would wear if they took away my sandals. And I work in a high school, which I think could be considered more hazardous to my health.

Ha ha. Thank you for sharing these valuable life lessons with me!

Hilarious post! The resident was probably flattered and at least your boss got the message about everyone wanting to wear sandals. As for the beans, well, cie la vie! lol

Your minutia is somehow very interesting!

(we're all scraping the bean pot these lazy Summer days, aren't we?)

Jo, Irony is a delicious thing - that being said, I say eat those baked beans and enjoy!

I've had it happen more than once Jo that I'm commenting on someone and they are standing right behind me...luckily I try not to say bad things so it's usually a good thing.

I hope you were able to laugh at the time, because it's pretty funny reading about your day now. I once replied to a personal email, not realizing the email I had open was from a listserve. English-speaking people all over the world learned that I wasn't interested in eating anything that had been in a co-worker's car for 2 days.

Beans, beans, a magical fruit,
the more you eat the more you poop,
the more you poop the better you feel,
so do eat beans for every meal.

But what? Curious squirrels want to know.

Funny! But what a hero you are to the reply-to-all group, and just think how happy you made the doc. ;-)

That brand in your picture also makes vegetarian beans. They have fewer side effects - at5 least for me - and I can't tell much difference in the taste.

Those beans will do you in every time! ;-)
