On Sunday I was stung by a wasp. Holy-freakin'-doodle those are nasty little b*ggers. Apparently there is a nest of them just outside my bedroom window, and on Sunday morning I had eight of them cruising around in my bedroom. One of them was on my bedroom mirror, admiring himself, and I slid the cupboard door open. He was not happy about that, and flew into my nightgown and stung me on a very sensitive part of my body. Okay, he stung me on my boob.
OUCH...!
I was sidelined for the whole day, with pain, itchiness and a general feeling of being unwell. I was stuck indoors because I could not put on any clothing, except a very loose-fitting shirt, and I found the best remedy for the pain was calamine lotion.
"If I be waspish, best beware my sting." ~~ Katherine, Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare
I can vouch for that.

Yikes! That sounds terrible! I haven't been stung by a wasp in ages but I still haven't forgotten the last time!
So sorry you had such a rough time of it and I hope you got rid of all the little buggers!
Oh...and I think that must be my fav quote from Taming of the Shrew. Just reading it made me want to read it again :)
I saw that on FB and hope you're feeling better now. check your email for the latest news!
Oh, Jo, that's just horrifying! I'm so afraid of stinging insects -- and to have eight of them in your bedroom and get stung anywhere, let alone such a sensitive place! -- OMG I do hope you're feeling better by now.
Quick story: a bee got into the kitchen of my brother and sister-in-law's house not long ago. My brother wanted to kill it. But Amp, my sister-in-law, is a gentle Thai Buddhist who doesn't like to kill living things. So she was trying to capture the bee to put in a container to take it outside to release when it stung her on the hand. Immediately, this gentle Thai Buddhist changed tactics and threw the bee to the floor and stomped on it. I bet you felt like doing some stomping yourself!
Oh, that's awful! I got stung by a European hornet last Saturday and it hurt but I think wasps are worse. Had ice on it for the entire afternoon. The itching was terrible, too.
Ouch in deed. I got whacked on the arm by one about 10 years ago and it was memorable.
We get the damn things coming in this time of year and we worry about our cats.
Amazingly the cats will not touch a stink bug, they must have learned something about them, but bees and wasps they seem to still pursue.
Benadryl gel should help. I am always sticking my hands into my flower beds to pull a weed or gather seed and a bee got me on the finger last year. Wow, I had forgotten how bad those stings hurt.
You've got to be careful. My hubbie got some spiderweb in his eye, while cleaning the ceiling the other day: just about his whole body swelled up! He's been bee-stung a few times and each time he's had a worse reaction. Try to avoid getting them cross!
So sorry! It's a nasty kind of sting. I was once stung by a wasp, same place, and went into anaphylactic shock. Not my best thing. Apparently I'm allergic to wasp stings but not to bees'. I hope you're feeling better now, Jo.
BIG ouch!! :( Hope you feel better soon Jo!
I was stung by a wasp a couple of years ago on the neck and had a serious reaction, my whole neck swollen, had to go to the doctor, now have to carry Epi pens everywhere I go in case of another sting.
