Interesting Times

My favorite thing to do at this time of the year is to go for a long walk, crunching leaves. Today I plan to do just that. When I come home, I am going to make some of my famous killer delicious beef stew, have a cup of tea, and visit all of your fabulous blogs. Did I hear someone whispering back there, "She needs to get a life?" Well, I suppose it's true. My life can be rather dull and uneventful at times. What is that ancient Chinese proverb, "May you live in interesting times." One should be happy to live in calm, serene and uninteresting times.

This is a little pencil sketch I did a few years ago of the fallen leaves. I loved the colors. In the meantime, I am going to leave you for today (get it? leave you -- oh, never mind...) with one of my favorite pieces of music, "L'autunno" from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons". I hope you get outdoors today and kick some leaves.

I believe beautiful, colored fall leaves were actually coursing through Vivaldi's veins when he composed "L'auntunno." That or your famous killer beef stew!

That was lovely; thank you for sharing!

I have crunched, kicked and tossed leaves today. Can you tell that I'm avoiding the raking part? ;) Nice leafy sketch. Such an inspirational season.

It's one of those cold, rainy fall days here, but I did get out and do some walking (the leaves were too wet to crunch) as part of charity walk for a local cancer center. Now, like you I am staying warm inside with a hot beverage and my computer.

I am planning to do the same thing soon. Going out to try and walk.

Sometimes I miss those chilly autumn days, walking through fallen leaves, raking them and smelling the scent of bonfires. Yes I will have to come back there for an autumn visit one year. Enjoy your walk Jo! Thanks for your thoughts.

Your life is more interesting than mine today - I've done housework & laundry all day. Blech. Now I'm listening to Vivaldi (thanks to you!) & getting ready to read a book. Nice!

P.S. I sent you a silly email - hope you're not too annoyed!

How fun, Jo! It is the simple things that bring the most magic to our lives. I love this time of year too! And what a gorgeous picture!

Happy Leave Crunching Day!

And your soup sounds yummy! :D

Hugs to You, Jo!

What's dull and uneventful about taking a long walk, having stew and tea, and then visiting blogs ??? Sounds great to me... for a quiet Sunday... I'm sure you have plenty of other eventful days of other sorts, but for me, these are the best kind, especially if walking included going to look at some interesting parts of your town, and taking a few pictures, like Mr Herzog liked to do...

I'd say your life sounds delightful! (Well, the leaf crunching, walking around out of doors, listening to Vivaldi part.)

I've always heard it is a Chinese curse actually.

I've been picture hunting for fall color here. I was able to find it. Have posted pics. :)

Glad you're having a good weekend.

We usually listen to Vivaldi when we go for our fall drive. Your photo and sketch are both very nice.

Hoping you had a calm and relaxing weekend. Quite the opposite of mine, I can agree that uneventful is not always bad.

Well I stayed indoors today and cooked up a conch stew for those who were willing to partake of this delicacy. I was on my feet most of yesterday taking part in a blood drive. It's not so easy asking passersby for a pint of blood! lol
Happy Sunday~~

I wish I could come for a walk with you.

'May you live in interesting times' is something a Chinese person would utter if s/he wished you some ill...

At least, that's how I understand it. It's a sort of backhanded wish, so to speak.

You really are quite a gifted artist Jo. Excellent sketch.
