The Guy In The Fancy Striped Vest...

I have a condition for which there is probably no cure, and there is no hope for me. It's a rare condition, and very few women suffer from it. It's probably chronic, but with the proper care, I can live symptom-free. My rare condition? I don't find George Clooney attractive. Oh, I can hear everyone gasping. "You don't find George Clooney attractive?"  No, I don't.  He's an okay actor, most of the time, if he can stop bobbing his head long enough... but other than that I can't see what all the fuss is about.  There was a scene in "The Seven Year Itch" where Marilyn Monroe says, "You think every girl's a dope. You think a girl goes to a party and there's some guy in a fancy striped vest strutting around giving you that I'm-so-handsome-you-can't-resist-me look. From this she's supposed to fall flat on her face. Well, she doesn't fall on her face."  George Clooney reminds me of the guy in the fancy striped vest.

It's sort of like rice pudding -- everyone says how delicious it is with all the lovely cinnamon and raisins, and I want to like it, but...

Mr. Clooney is a humanitarian, he has a great sense of humor ... His face is asymmetrically perfect ... I know, I know ... what am I missing?  Is there any cure for my condition?

You don't need a cure.. I also don't find him attractive..
I never have. He is only ok.. Nothing about him screams sex appeal but he does seem like an ok person... only okay

I am one of those who thinks he is just beautiful. I like to look at him but I don't get all misty eyed. He is also an incredible actor, in my opinion. But you know that part about it all being in the eye of the beholder... :-)

Finally, someone who agrees with me.
I have never thought he was all that great, since he has no lips to speak of. I like his acting okay, or at least I did when he was on ER, but I have never thought him as good looking as everyone else seems to.

Jo, feel free to copy that cartoon...
LOL

He doesn't do much for me either. I have always found bad boys attractive, not really, really bad, as in evil and cruel, but kind of misunderstood-bad, and Clooney is too symmetrical and wholesome for my taste. I'm with Marilyn, and you!

he's o.k. but rather far down on my list!! (I thought I was the only one)
Have a good weekend!

LOL! I've never seen so many Jo's in one place...yay for us!

From one Jo to another, I'm so sorry to hear of your affliction. I would leave my husband of 35 years in a heartbeat for Mr. Clooney. For me, it's not a matter of his good looks (although, wow, what a head of hair), but his charm, wit, generous nature, and humanitarian ways. The fact that I adore his father and also his aunt (?) Rosemary is just icing on the cake!

Great blog...glad to have found you.

I don't see it either. Ever since I found out that he didn't think Julianna Margulies was attractive enough to costar with him on ER, my enthusiasm diminished even more.

Oh I think he's a cutie - but he reminds me of my brother so I don't think of him THAT way (eww!!). But then I like rice pudding too :)

You know, I think the only movie I've seen him in is O Brother Where Art Thou & I thought he was GREAT in that. Of course, I love that movie anyway...

He looks a little like my husband, so I find him really yummy!

That's ok you don't care for George. I like his face, etc., and watch all his movies. I have no romantic illusions about him though. I leave that to the young women who worship him.

I like him because he seems to be very nice. But if I'm to lust after someone it would have to be Hugh Jackman.

I find him absolutely adorable. I watched Piers Morgan twice last night to get a double dose of him (and his father ain't so bad, either!)

Ah, I am a Lesbian and I would have an affair with George Clooney and if he brought Cathrine Zeta Jones along...would I complain? No.

I don't get it either :) I am back in Blogland so thought I should say hi. I am no longer eternally distracted :)

I'm with you Jo, I have never found him or the most popular celebrity crushes attractive, but agree with Letters to Emily, Sam Shepherd is very appealing.Fortunately I do not need to find the male lead in a movie or show attractive to enjoy a good story.

I'm 'cure'-ious to know whom you do find attractive?

I think he's cute, but I'm more impressed with his generosity. Now Hugh Laurie...

I don't find him all that attractive either. :)

Oh then I am not alone hmm because neither do I. And since we are at it then I would like to add 'Brad pitt ' to the list..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder dear Jo. I'm really glad you don't find him appealing so that I can have him! I think he's gorgeous! But you know who I really think is sexy? An actor by the name of Brian Hennehy. I just love his smile...and I love a big man, makes me feel very tiny and petite :-D

I so agree. Now Richard Gere does it for me - my husband can't understand this. He thinks he's ugly. I think he just oozes sex appeal.
