I'm Baaaaack..... Watch This Space

This past week has been rather overwhelming, and I haven't had an opportunity to open my blog. I'm not even sure anyone reads it anymore... In any case, we have been going through the accreditation process at work, so by the time I come home in the evenings, sitting at a computer is just about the last thing I want to do, right behind putting burning matches under my fingernails.

Typing? At home? For leisure...?

I don't think so.

In Canada, we have a three-day weekend coming up. Friday is Canada Day, and the Dude* and Duchess of Cambridge will be making their first official royal nine-day tour of Canada, starting on Thursday, June 30th. I would love to see them, but their tour includes almost all of Canada ~~  except British Columbia. And then they're off to the razzle-dazzle of Hollywood.  British Royalty used to have a certain je ne sais quoi ~~ a mystique ~~ but in the 21st Century they have come out from behind the palace walls onto the pages of People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight. Is that good or bad? I'm not sure. Perhaps their days are numbered, in any case.

"Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown." ~~ William Shakespeare

Have a fabulous long weekend, everyone. Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends, and Happy Independence Day to my American friends.

I'll be back soon.  Watch this space.

*yes, Dude, his official title...  :-)

I know what you mean about finding time to blog or even sitting in front of a computer. My work has been totally crazy and other things in life have made blogging the last thing I want to do at night.

Have a great Canada Day and hopefully, we will be able to get back into blogging about our summers when summer finally arrives in BC.

Welcome back. Whether their days are numbered or not, I still think the Dude (wink) and Duchess is a beautiful couple and I hope they will be around for ages. Happy Canada Day to you and all Canadians.

Hi Jo. I'm a fairly new reader and have been enjoying your blog so pleased to hear you're Baaaaack! My husband and I grew up in Vancouver then spend 40 years in Victoria with careers and raising a family and recently moved back to Vancouver in the West End. It's great to be bacccck....

given the human fascination with celebrities, I think the Royals are finally coming into their own. Humanity can't dispense with them now.

Yes, the Royals will be coming to our Stampede this year. And the Calgary zoo. I'm not really sure why the zoo... our zoo has been in a fair bit of trouble the last few years.

Does anyone still read this blog??? C'mon Jo! Of course we do, we love it and you!

Sounds like a stressful time at work, good thing you have a 3-day weekend coming up.

I think it's a good thing that they've come out from behind the palace walls. They seem so much more accessible and friendly. I'm enchanted by the Dude and Duchess!

You're so funny. Only 800+ followers, and you wonder if anybody reads your blog?

You are one of my favorite people and I count on your pithy observations. I was away from my computer for one day only and I was overwhelmed with how far behind I had gotten. So I just pretended I read everything by hitting the "mark as read" button! :-)

It's good you can get away from the bloggers regardless of why. I for one would miss hearing from you every once in a while. Love your posts on facebook.
Have a fun week end.

oh sweet Jo, I think you have nothing to worry about in the readership department...nothing at all.
Enjoy your holiday and I will be looking forward to hearing from you soon...

I think Kate Middleton would do better by actually eating something for a change. Every time I see her, I am overtaken by the urge to offer her a baked potato, American style.

Of course I read it! At times over the last two years of absolute messiness in my life, yours has been the only blog I make time to read. I don't even write in my own! But I miss you when I'm away.
