I'm In Love...!

Is it possible to be in love with a vacuum cleaner?  I have discovered this wonderful machine called a Dirt Devil cordless, rechargable all surface vacuum, and now all I want to do is vacuum.  Anyone who knows me, knows that housecleaning is not on the list of my top ten favourite things to do.  It's not even on the top 100.  I like having a clean house, and I feel more relaxed when things are organized rather than topsy turvy.  But doing it?  That's a whole other story.  And way down on the bottom of the list is vacuuming.  I detest vacuuming.  Vacuums are heavy, they're noisy, they're dirty, and they always have awkward cords that get in the way.  The other day I decided I needed a new vacuum cleaner, so  I typed "cordless vacuum cleaners" into Google, and up popped this little Dirt Devil.  Where has it been all my life?  It's lightweight, it has a ball pivot just like the much more expensive Dyson, it lies flat to go under bookcases and furniture, it cleans really well, and -- ta-da -- there is no cord.  You just plug it into a charger and in a few hours it's ready to go.  In the past few years I have spent so much money trying to find the perfect vacuum cleaner, and each was as bad as the last -- heavy, noisy, clumsy and with a ratty cord that never ... quite ... reached ... that farthest corner of the living room.

I love my little cordless Dirt Devil.

Now, if you will excuse me, I see a little spot under the TV that needs to be vacuumed.

Also my lest favorite task. Husband loves to, though. One year my son thought we should look for a rider model!!

I don't mind vacuuming, but I love the idea of a cordless vacuum (that actually works!)

Let me know when the remote control model comes out. Sounds like a winner.

Jo - I've been in love with my Dyson DC24 Ball for three years now. Despite the brush head blowing up three times and them replacing it, we have a beautiful relationship.

Of course it is!
I have been in a relationship with my Dyson for over 8 years, & we still love each other just like the first time we met. :D

I hate hate hate vacuuming (in fact I wrote a poem once about it: http://danabugseyeview.blogspot.com/2010/09/old-blue.html). I am definitely going to look up this dirt devil one!

My vac looks like your one's big brother - but it still doesn't weigh much and I love it to bits - especially as when you stand on one knob the cord winds itself up completely. what's not to love !! Totally understand.

Hello Jo, I just found your blog, via mrs nesbitt.

You may just have changed my life.

The only thing better than a cordless would be one that doesn't need me at all..?!

Linda, I love my little Dirt Devil.

VioletSky, it is SO light and so effecient, it's wonderful!

MerCyn, there actually IS a remote control one. It's looks like a little space alien.

Em, I was looking at the Dyson DC24 Ball too, but my place is too small for an expensive vacuum. The Dirt Devil is sort of similar.

PinkPanthress, my little Dirt Devil has a ball pivot like the Dyson. I was so surprised to discover it.

Dana, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your poem about vacuuming...!

FiftyOdd, yes, it was the cord that got me. Silly thing always got tangled up in everything, and I was always stepping on it, or tripping on it.

Jessica, welcome! Yes, wouldn't it be nice, plug the vacuum in and go for a coffee, and when you come back it's all done? Maybe sometime in the future. :-)

I'm in the market for a new vacuum cleaner and this is a good testimonial. I think I'll put it on my Christmas wish list! :)

P.S. I hate vacuuming too Jo!
