A Riddle...

Question: What do you call March 31st in Vancouver?

Answer: Spring.

Yesterday was a gorgeous spring day here in Vancouver, and I noticed all the magnolias are blooming, the tulips and daffodils as well. But today it's cold and snowing, and that's no April Fools joke. One of the TV announcers this morning said, "Gosh, how cold would it be if we didn't have global warming?" Well, I know it's called climate change, and this cold weather is an indication of that, but really -- snow in April, in Vancouver?

I love magnolias. I did this little sketch when I made a birthday card for a friend of mine who lives in England. I kept a copy, but I thought I had lost it and yesterday I was searching through some Picasa photographs on Google, et voila! there it was.

March 31st is also fiscal end, and I have been crazy busy at work, so I haven't had a chance to respond to your lovely comments on my previous post, or to visit any of your fabulous blogs. I will be there once the dust -- and the snow -- settles. Last night I was so exhausted I dragged my carcass went to a movie after work -- "Monsters Versus Aliens". I wanted something light-hearted and fun. The monsters and special effects were amazing, but the movie itself was a total bore. Too much action is just ... well ... too much action. It could have been wonderful, but they just missed the mark somehow. But check out "House" (Hugh Laurie) as Dr. Cockroach. He steals the show.

Happy April 1st, everyone. Can summer be far behind?

Oh so that's it.
Wondered why you seemed a bit nonplussed when I read an entry on another blog.
Smow in Vancover April One.
As they used to say in the old days, this is unacceptable. Even un-Christian. Heh.
Visitors with waterskis can always go snowboarding..Just kidding.
Over here it's raining. But the crocuses are pushing right up and we do not fear of croaking any more.... Clang!
Egad. I just came back from Toronto and almost lost my flower.
Durn aggressive girls over there. :)
Cheers.

A lot of magnolias here. They bloom at all kinds of times because we don't really have a clear winter spring definition here.

It's just wet here - no snow, thank God! But yesterday - gorgeous!

If it makes you feel any better, I am WAY south of you and it is cold and windy today. The snow of this past weekend just melted and my knees are killing me from working the garden beds with my hoe yesterday. I was going to say 'hoeing', but when I thought about it, then said it out loud, well....it just didn't sound right. Tee hee, a new career?

That's a beautiful flower you drew! I wish I could hang that in a room in my new house!

I have yet to see that movie, but the boys will love it when we do!

To Chicgeek- What an awful society we live in that someone would find in "funny" to call in a bomb threat. I'm sorry you and your coworkers had to deal with such bs!

I've always liked Hugh Laurie, even back in his comedy days on Fry and Laurie. I didn't realize he was in this. I'll have to check it out. May be a renter. We hardly ever pay full price for a movie.

No snow here in NJ but we do have lovely cold, moody rain! I did some raking yesterday and I too was happy to see my daffodils struggling to pop open. I helped them out happily. I have to say this has been one of the worst winters. Just weeks and weeks of bitter cold, snow and sleet and our driveway and backyard a skating rink (not the fun kind) I am someone who loves winter but I am thrilled that spring is on it's way. Happy Spring everyone!!!

Snow? Spring? We've got autumn (fall) and rain here down under. We can always use the rain.

Each of the four seasons has its own particular beauty and we should have all four of them in a stable manner like we used to in the past before the beginning of the"global warming".

We're having rain, rain, rain here. My husband and I went to the movies this past Saturday to see Knowing. It was somewhat entertaining until the very end when it turned into a weirdo science fiction kind of thing! Weird!
