Off With Her Head...!

Sometimes at work I feel like Alice from "Alice in Wonderland". In our office, we have all the cast of characters: the Mad Hatter is quietly mad; The Queen of Hearts bellows,

"Off with her head...! Off with her head...!"

The White Rabbit runs to and fro, to and fro; the Cheshire Cat sits quietly in a corner, grinning.

Cheshire Cat: "If I were looking for a white rabbit, I'd ask the Mad Hatter."

Alice: "The Mad Hatter? Oh, no no no..."

Cheshire Cat: "Or, you could ask the March Hare, in that direction."

Alice: "Oh, thank you. I think I'll see him..."

Cheshire Cat: "Of course, he's mad, too."

Alice: "But I don't want to go among mad people."

Cheshire Cat: "Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here. You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself."

Alice: "It was much pleasanter at home, when one wasn't always being ordered about by mice and white rabbits."

Would you please pass me some of that magic mushroom, or maybe the caterpillar might share his hookah pipe? *sigh*

I was just SINGING that in the car after a visit to my friend's house... I felt as if I had stepped into the very world you wrote of...

Ain't the world a wild place. You are really rather twisted... I love it!

Feed your head!

If you're done with the mushroom or pipe, please pass it my way as well. I think I need it.
Ps. I work with them as well.

There was a table set under a tree near the house. And the March Hare and the Mad Hatter were having something at it...

Well. Between my novels about the Hat Men, you as Alice, Heff as the caterpillar, and TomCat with his grin, we could all have quite a party.

Great post, I just ordered a t shirt from cafepress with Alice and the cheshire cat on the front and the quote about mad people and we are all mad here on the back. It's one to wear to school, Alice in Wonderland seems to be the flavour of the moment. I love the cheshire cat.

I've worked in a few places like that. It makes me glad to be self employed.

I was trying to decide, but I believe there's really no question - I'm the Mad Hatter where I work. I'm good with that - it entertains me.

Look around, Jo, any bottles that say, "Drink Me."?

All offices have their nutters.

Have you read Dave-Pie-and-Mash's blog of late? Talk about crazies! The Mad Hatter would look perfectly sane in that work place of his.

I've worked with those people also! And they said I was the mad one. :-)

You know, sometimes I felt like strangling the people I worked with and some of them wanted to strangle me. But looking back, I feel rather fond of most of them. And I miss that zany cast of characters! Life was much more interesting then.

Be glad you have your beautiful tree house to retreat to. And Jo, thank you so much for the birthday greeting you left on my site yesterday!

I remember working in an office, those were the GOOD days you describe, just thinking about it I may need the pipe and mushrooms!

There are some basic rules of life you always need to remember.

One rule is that real estate people ALWAYS make sure they alternate good neighbors and bad neighbors. That way every good neighbor has two bad neighbors on either side of them! Heh!! (Yes, it is done on purpose!! I think the lawyers have something to do with this conspiracy...!)

Second, every office MUST have at least two really stupid, inefficient and completely obnoxious people for every one good worker.

One of the mandatory 2-1 stupid to good employees must also be a hypochondriac so that he or she can bore everyone with their latest health problems while being completely incompetent.

Also, for every 5 employees there MUST be at least one Jesus freak who goes around telling everyone that he and Jesus are buddies and that everything in life is Jesus, Jesus, Jesus and more Jesus. Such employees get to wear a little gold badge that says "Super Obnoxious Employee and Proud of It."

I could go on but you know all of this...! Heh!!!

It seems every workplace has its share of characters, Jo. Working in closed quarters with a lot of folks seems to bring out the worst. Office politics and gossip is the most despicable thing there is. I try to keep to myself and not get involved with anyone for this reason-I have been hurt too man times before. The trick is to stay very busy so that five o'clock comes quickly!

This definitely works for me too at my workplace!

Oh the memories. I still sing and play that song on occasion.

This was great! I don't understand why people have to fear to go to work to see what nasty situation awaits them every day. For once, I would like to go to work and feel a sense of happiness and fulfillment. I wake up now and wondered why my alarm clock has betrayed me, and that never use to happen; I love my job. Anyways enough about that. Thanks for this post.

:o)

White Rabbit is one my favorite songs to play and sing. It's all bar chords so it's fun sliding up and down the guitar neck.

I am the Cheshire cat at work, only substitute the grin with a pout.
