The Gambler

I am feeling just a wee bit under the weather today, so I hope you will forgive me if I don't have the chance to answer all your wonderful comments, or visit you today. Ever since I was a teenager, I have had what is known as atrial fibrillation. I can go for months or even years without any episodes, and then suddenly it will act up again. For some peculiar reason, it was at its worst when I was in my 20s. Sometimes it is related to stress, and often it is related to something I might have eaten. Yesterday I had a very strong cup of coffee, et voila! that set it off. I have had a couple of other stressors in my life too, but nothing major. Today I'm fine (well, that's a relative term, isn't it?) albeit a bit sleepy.

Life is a gamble, anyway, don't you think? We can't avoid stress, or any of the other things that might happen to us, including all the wonderful things. The minute we get out of bed in the morning and set our feet on the floor, we take chances -- but that is the joy of life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I hope today is a wonderful day for you. You deserve it.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

Ah - I was in the 7th grade (I think) when The Gambler came out, but the song I LOVED was Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town. We'd sing that at the tops of our lungs. Obnoxious!

I agree that life is a gamble. I like it when my day starts out crappy & somehow mid-stream it sorts itself out into something much more pleasant - but I don't like it so much when it happens the other way around...

Feel better!

Maybe you just need another hot fudge sundae? :)

I'm sitting here sipping on a chocolate milkshake-- the whole office was feeling a bit stressed today, so we made a McDonalds run. And it's definitely helping!

Life is a gamble, and it's best to be a calculated risk taker, I think.

I like that painting. Is it yours?

Feel better soon Jo, every day is a gamble isn't it? I'm bummed because I can't mow my lawn but have so much else to do in anticipation of my trip so the day is going better.
Hmmmm chocolate milkshake doesn't sound too bad?

not fun at all. Are you taking any medication to help control it?

Sorry Jo...I hope you still have it checked out even tho you are familiar with it. My Mom suffers from the same, which makes her anxious and tired. They thought she might need a pacemaker someday. I'll say a prayer for you to get to feeling better and rid yourself of the un-needed stressors in your life!

I'm not sure what happened, but I deleted my first message for this post because somehow (Mercury retrograde)it was meant for your previous post. :-p
Anyway, hope you feel better soon - sending positive thoughts your way!

Today was fair to middlin', as my mother used to say.
Hoping you're back on track!

Take really good care of yourself and get well soon, Jo!

I try to avoid the things and the people that stress me out, as much as possible. I made a stress list and keep it posted on my intention board, to remind myself.

Such a lovely painting!

An old Indian Medicine Woman I knew said, "We were never promised a tomorrow."

I love K.R. I listened to the whole song. Thanks Jo, and get some rest!

first time here - great blog

The lyrics to this song have more meaning than I remembered.

Knowing what to keep and what to throw away - that applies so well to ideas and many other things in life.

thanks
