To Love You and Leave You...

No, no, no, I'm not going anywhere. But my mind has become a barren wasteland for the moment. Have you ever done something so embarrassing that you want to jump on a plane, head for a foreign country, change your name, change your identity ... Oh goodness. Well, without going into the gory details, I did that today. I remember once, the first time I ever witnessed someone embarrassing themself ... gosh. I was about five years old, and I brought a little friend home to play at my house. My mother mistook my friend for someone else, and she chatted away to my little friend as though she were the other person. And then she started asking my little friend how her mother was -- and she mentioned her by name -- the other person's name. I was frozen to the spot. I remember it felt like everything was in slow motion, and I couldn't speak, "Stop, stop, Mom! You have the wrong person...!" But all I could do was stand there and watch the horror unfold. My little friend was frozen too. It was one those moments that I still see in my mind's eye as clearly as a diorama. Of course, to my mother it was nothing, but to a five year-old child watching her mother in an embarrassing situation was almost overwhelming devastation. My cheeks still burn when I think of it. Well, let me tell you, what I did today was much worse -- and folks who witnessed it -- well, their cheeks are probably still burning too. *sigh* So I am going to make myself scarce for a couple of days. As the Governator would say, "I'll be back".

I'll just bet you've never done anything to embarrass yourself -- have you? You have?

Ohhhh yes! In fact, the other day I was thinking of posting about some embarassing moments...but so far I'm too embarassed. Those moments that still make me cringe decades later.

hmhm...

people always get embarrassed alone... that in a way is the whole point of the embarrassment... :)

I get several separate moments of cringing every day just thinking about all the embarassing things I've done. It's hard to think of them all off the top of my head...one that springs to my mind after reading your post was when I went to see different bands from the 1960s at a special reunion concert.

Long story short, I basically handed a photograph to Dave Dee from DDDBM&T for him to sign for me. As it transpired, I'd in fact handed him the photograph - I'd mistakenly purchased - of Dave Berry! But I didn't realise until Dave Dee frowned at me and said

"You've got the wrong one love, that's Dave Berry."

I proceeded to feel even worse when he offered to sign a real photograph of himself.

The horror!

No, never.

Yest of course. At the moment, I'm kinda blushing to admit that I know who CTVicky means by DDDBM&T. I hadn't thought of the names Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich in ages!

B and B...! Mental telepathy. I was just thinking about you, et voila! there you are. And no, I would never post the details of my cringe-inducing embarrassment. *heh*

Muthu, oh, yes...! The spotlight shines on us at that moment -- alone! :-)

The Bug, *heh, heh* You're welcome. Everyone needs to remember their embarrassing moments. :-)

CTVicky, oh goodness, I feel my cheeks burning for you. That sounds like something I would do, for sure!

Jackc50, not in a MILLION years...! *heh* Oh, goodness. :-)

Hilary, I am embarrassed to say -- I had to Google them to look them up. I didn't recognize the name, but I might recognize their music.

Probably why I enjoy your blog so much, is because you are able to talk, discribe and explain life as simple and beautiful it should be done.

You know, I think I've repressed the memory of almost every single embarrassing moment I've ever had. I clearly remember the sensation of wanting to crawl into a hole and disappear forever...I remember feeling it many times, but I can't remember for the life of me why.

Though I will never forget some of my most embarassing moments, I have a feeling that others involved don't remember them at all. I guess that's something to take some comfort in.

i think we have all been embarrassed at one time at the different stages of our lives, from our younger years until now. thanks for sharing , i realized that there is to come. but i guess embarrassment helps us to be humble -- which is not bad after all. -- just my thought.

Just know Jo, that you have a lot of people here, following your blog, loving your stories, snipits, and art. We think you are great regardless of any faux pas you may have committed. And as you have read all of us have done things that embarrassed us or we were ashamed of.

You humans get embarassed so easily. That one of the good things about being a dog. We very rarely get embarassed. Jo, I'm sure it wasn't that bad. You could tell us and we could reassure that we had done worse.

It is so comforting to find another human kind of human. That is exactly what we do and that is exactly what keep up human. Hope it is the kind of embarrassment that will give you a good giggle in a few years' time.

Hey Jo thanks for dropping by and leaving such nice and encouraging comments.

Well there was an embarassing situation in my life too and worse it didnt happen when i was a kid but when I was in love.

I introduced my then boy friend and now husband to my mom and she thought that he was just a friend of mine and she wanted to introduce him to one of my other cousins who was in search of a guy to get married.I introdeuced him to her so that she would like him and I could tell her that I love this guy. She did like him a lot but unfortunately not for me coz she thought I was againt the idea of getting married.

Gosh I felt so terrible. My cheeks get red when I think of that.

Anyways, do drop by for more recipes.
Take care and love

I am also too embarrassed to reveal my embarrassing moments..but I'll thoroughly enjoy yours! Ha ha....isn't it amazing how just thinking of those moments even years later causes us to blush?

Oh Jo, fret not! It's never really as bad as we think - it's just that since you're facing it one and one, THAT's IT - it's the motherload of embarrassment! Trust me, worse has definitely happened, I have a few moments that could rival yours too *grin* so don't disappear for too long!

Oh honey. How much time do you have?

Good morning, everyone, and thank you for your wonderful comments. I'm so glad to see other people have embarrassed themselves too -- not just me. *sigh* *heh, heh*

I sometimes embarras myself by the front of my pants showing a drip to my whistle. Ah, what the hell. A decrepid old man. But you have no whistle. So all is still okay.

I made the most mortifying mistake at work the other day and looked a complete idiot and got my boss in trouble... still walking around with my tail between my legs...

But what can you do, what is done is done. I am sure whatever you did to embarrass yourself wasn't half as bad as my mistake of the other day!

Nope, nothing embarrassing here to report...other than one month ago at my going away luncheon before starting a new job, I laughed so hard Pepsi came snorting out of my nose. Ain't nuttin' honey.
